We went on Veterans Day Saturday the 11th, the first thing we ordered was coffee and an OJ for our son. When the waitress got our drinks the coffee was lukewarm and there was a fly floating in the juice. We told the obviously inexperienced young waitress and she took the juice. As I watched her take the juice back a lady, who I assume is her boss, took the juice and put it back in the refrigerator. When she saw my appalled face at the disturbing act of her she took the juice back out and into the kitchen, she didn’t dump it in the sink next to her which leads me to believe she intended to actually serve that juice to someone else. When the food arrived the main complaint is that they served it as they wanted not as ordered and we were very specific as to how we wanted our food. The omelette my fiancé had although it tasted ok it looked like they cooked it for an hour, it was beyond overcooked. I asked a nearby waitress who was very chatty with the people sitting next to us for a glass of water and without even looking our way she gave me a half nod of head and walked away and a couple minutes later our waitress brought me the water. It was a disgusting dishwasher tasting water and not only made me and my fiancé gag that night my throat started to hurt and by Sunday morning I had a full blown throat infection. It was obvious that making any complaints would have been fruitless so we opted to pay and leave promising to never go back. The place is dated and not sanitary, our waitress was very inexperienced, the other waitresses were more concerned and super friendly with the seniors but standoffish to most other customers. However, the Turkish gentleman who works there was very friendly and courteous. This isn’t a “hidden gem” and quite frankly I truly discourage anyone from...
Read moreFirst I wanna say I’ve worked at different diners and restaurants all over NJ for 10 years. when we walked in the place looked out dated and didn’t look very clean. We were greeted by soda cans in the dessert case with a few packaged desserts that look like they’ve been sitting. Was afraid to eat any food from there so I got breakfast because how can you mess up breakfast? The plate was scorching hot (which means it was sitting under the heat lamp for too long) and the food was at room temperature. The eggs were rubber (over easy) the bacon and sausage was hard and rubbery as well. And the French toast was either made in the morning and reheated or made with stale bread. Place has a lot of potential. The male server was very attentive and nice. When I asked about a couple of food items he wasn’t too sure nor confident in his answers which speaks volumes. The host/manager wasn’t the nicest just a hi and goodbye type of guy. Then to top it off the urinal in the bathroom was broken and it was 1 functioning stall in the bathroom with urine on the floor and a foul smell. I see a lot of reviews that said the place is a hidden gem which maybe in its prime was but doesn’t seem that way anymore. Doesn’t seem like anyone takes pride in working there and that’s what need to happen. Be strict about the quality of food going out. Be strict about the cleanliness of the diner. And take pride in the quality of service that’s being given to guests and this place...
Read moreWe had so many great experiences here, but I'm sorry to say... I guess they changed ownership in August/September 2022 and our most recent experience was not good. Ordered breakfast, so totally standard diner fare. No exaggeration: the home fries tasted like they'd been re-fried...like they'd been made by mistake, gotten cold, and then been thrown onto the grill to warm up for our order. The toast wasn't actually toasted, and was clearly buttered after it had gotten cold (which had happened sometime prior to its arrival at our table)... his scrapple was greasy and uncooked in the middle... When we mentioned to the waitress that there were no onions in my home fries, as I'd ordered (because we didn't want to be charged for absent onions) she said we should've asked - but she had dropped off our food and never come back, so we couldn't... It was just not what we'd...
