Billy B's Cajun Grill — Restaurant in Mansfield

There is no real competition in town so I didn't have high expectations for this place while travelling for business. A coworker and I decided to try it out on Tuesday. Our waitress was pleasant and offered unbiased reviews of what she really liked and what she wasn't crazy about. I wasn't that hungry so opted for a bowl of red beans and rice and fried pickle appetizer. The beans were good and I took the rest with me to the hotel for lunch the next day. My coworker ordered the special of tacos, one shrimp, one pork, and one brisket. He raved about all of them and also took the rest with him. The pickles were seasoned well but very greasy. We were able to blot them off enough to make them palatable. Bottled domestic beer for me was only $3, his wine was also reasonable although I don't remember how much. We both agreed that there was no point trying a different option the next night and both ordered the special of chicken quesadillas which were generously stuffed and really good. Thanks to everyone at Billy Bs for a great meal...

We're in Mansfield for the State 4-H shooting competition. Not the most convenient place to have this, but it's only every two years.

As a close knit group, we decided to go to dinner together. All 18 of us. No reservations, just showed up. Surprise!

The staff didn't even blink an eye. They pushed 6 tables together and immediately started taking orders. They separated checks, and kept track of who was sitting where. Orders were taken, food eaten, dessert had, and checks delivered.

I didn't hear one complaint about the food, which came quickly, hot, and correct. When groups decided to leave, the checks and payment were taken quickly, returned promptly, and they did not add the "mandatory tip" most places give you (you'll usually come out ahead if you don't add that)

Recently just relocated to the area. This place is always a hit or miss depending on the staff that day. While in duty uniform, service is ok. Brought my family in today (4 total). Asked hostess if we could sit in the booth (less visible) and she said no, it wasn't their turn and walked off. Then the Waitress stated the bar was basically out of liquor, then went to ask what they could make... came back to ask if i knew what i wanted because they only had one written bar menu and they were using it. Say what now?! She was so unconcerned and didn't try to find a solution. 🙄 I see why certain demographics don't like to come here....
