Terrible experience!! My mother turned 69 last week and we wanted to throw an intimate party of 6 at our home for her. I really wanted to give her a special meal and have heard good things about Vaccaro's. I saw on their website that they offer catering. I called several days before the party to find out more about their catered food. When I called, a woman answered. I began asking questions regarding the size options of their party trays and price. The woman stopped me and told me that she did not know any of that information. I was asked to hold. A moment later a man, who I am assuming was the owner/manager, picked up the phone. I began asking him my questions regarding the party trays and prices. This man abruptly interrupted me to inform me that he was “too busy” to talk with me. He took my number and informed me he would call me back sometime. I received a call a few hours later from this man. I informed the man that I would like to order a small party tray of lasaugna, eggplant parmesan, garlic knots and a cheesecake. I inquired about the prices of these party trays. The man told me that he did not know what the prices were and if I wanted to know, I would have to call him the day I was to pick them up. AFTER they would have been made!! I went ahead and placed my order. GRAVE MISTAKE!!!! My family and I occasionally have family gatherings and have gotten catered food in the past. I was expecting the total cost to be around $80.00 to $100.00. This would be a typical price range for this caliber of restaurant. And since the owner/manager had no idea what he charges for his food, this was my best guess. This was a red flag that I sadly chose to ignore. When I arrived at Vaccaro's to pick up my party trays, I was rung up by this same owner/manager. When he hit the total button on the register, I was shocked!! The total amount was $150.00!!!!! I was faced with a nightmare decision. I either had to leave without a dinner for my family and go to Wal-Mart for a frozen lasaugna or bite this unexpected bullet so that my family would not have to wait an hour or more past the expected dinner time while I tried to throw something together. I handed this man my credit card with a sickness in my stomach. I asked for a receipt, hoping for some clarity or explanation for such a ridiculous charge. I was just given my credit card receipt. No itemized explanation for such gross overpricing. I STILL have no idea how much these four party trays cost, individually. My best guess is around $38.00 per tray. OUTRAGEOUS!! While on my way home, I was just praying that this would have to be the BEST meal I’ve ever eaten in my life! Mistaken again. The food was very boring and tasteless. We could not tell the difference between the lasagna and eggplant parmesan and ended up adding seasoning to our plates for some flavor. The whole time apologizing to my family for such a disappointing meal. I could have taken my entire family to a HIGH END restaurant, spent the same amount of money, and had a much better dinner. I really wish I would have walked out Vaccaro's and gone to Wal-Mart to buy a frozen lasaugna party tray and some garlic bread. I KNOW it would have tasted better and saved me a lot of money. I hope this review helps someone else from getting robbed as well. You can certainly bet, my friends and family will NEVER do business with Vaccaro's ever again. Terrible customer service, incompetent staff and management and...
Read moreDon't be fooled by the humble exterior - which is generally a sign of a good Italian joint - the pizza here is fantastic! I haven't tried any of the entrees here, but they look very good when passing my table. What i can speak to is the pizza. I've lived in Italy, and Vaccaros pizza is legit. Nice, bubbly, hand tossed crust. Great marinara, and a good selection of toppings, including fresh garlic, kalamatas, and wait for it, anchovies! Anchovies! Don't squirm, try it! They're fantastic on pizza and very traditional Italian. And they're good for you. Other bonuses: Vaccaros has Peroni! Outside of the pizza, I have had some salads. The salads are okay, definitely a good side to the pizza, but for us, the pizza is the main event. So, if you're in this area, passing through, definitely plan on stopping here. You...
Read moreNot the small town restaurant I thought it would be when I moved to the area. I stopped myself from leaving a bad review the first time. This makes the second time I’ve gone in and been treated very poorly. This time, I had a pick up order, didn’t leave a tip, I could barley afford the food. Waited patiently. Then, the waitress walked by my food sitting waiting for about 10minutes with her nose in the air. It’s sad that we live in a society that judges others so harshly and can be so hateful and rude to a person that can’t afford to leave a tip. Food was $38 for two people. The cheapest tip offer was $6. 15%. I tip 20% when I sit down. That’s why I didn’t sit down in the restaurant. I will never go here again, and I will be telling others to avoid this restaurant it is...
