Blue Water Grill and Raw Bar: where the staff's friendliness almost makes you forget that your food is good, not great. The ambiance? It's like stepping into a postcard that says, "Welcome to a pretty nice place." If you're expecting a Michelin star experience, you might want to recalibrate those taste buds. But if you're here for a decent meal and good vibes, you're in the right spot.
The drinks? They do the job, and you might even find yourself having a second, or third. Hey, if the food isn't blowing your mind, at least the cocktails will keep you entertained. It's the kind of place where you take a sip and think, "Yep, that's a drink," rather than "Wow, that's the best margarita I've ever had!"
The food itself? Let’s just say it’s the culinary equivalent of a polite handshake. The flavors are fine, the presentation is fine, everything is just... fine. Nothing to write home about, unless you’re really bored and your penpal has low standards. But don’t worry, your taste buds won’t riot, they’ll just quietly enjoy their meal.
Now, let’s talk about the star of the show: the key lime pie. This dessert is like the overachieving sibling at the family reunion – everyone else is nice enough, but this pie is the one winning all the awards. If you come for nothing else, come for the key lime pie. It's so good, it almost makes you forget the rest of the meal was just okay.
In summary, Blue Water Grill and Raw Bar is the perfect spot for a pleasant evening with friendly staff and good drinks. Just remember to save room for the key lime pie, because it’s the real reason to visit. Bon appétit! Or, at least,...

The service was as delightful as the scenery. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we were well taken care of throughout our meal. Now, let's dive into the food!
The portions were generously sized, leaving us happily stuffed by the end of our meal. However, the food itself was a bit of a mixed bag. While the menu offers a variety of tempting dishes, I was particularly let down by the shrimp alfredo. The shrimp were impressively large, but unfortunately, they lacked the seasoning that could have made this dish a standout. A bit more flavor and it would have been a homerun.
Other dishes fared better and overall, the food was okay – not mind-blowing, but definitely not bad. It's a good spot to enjoy a meal with a view, especially if you’re more focused on the atmosphere and service rather than having an exceptional culinary experience.
In summary, Blue Water Grill & Raw Bar shines brightest in its ambiance and service. It's a wonderful place for a scenic meal by the water, with decent food and great hospitality. If you're in Manteo and looking for a spot to relax and enjoy the coastal vibes, this is a solid choice. Just don’t set your expectations too high for the...
Read moreWe were in the area to see the Christmas lights at the Elizabetathion gardens in Manteo and was planning on stopping around there for dinner. Happen to notice all the yatchs docked at the foot of the bridge and this restaurant. Since we never been there before we decided to stop there for dinner and I'm so glad we did. Restaurant is on the second floor,, but they do have a elevator if needed. The views were awesome and they have a really large bar area with several tv's for those that are there for drinks or socializing. Food and service was great. Had the the 5 onion soup as a appetizer, best I ever had and for my entree the fish and chips. Fish was not overly done and portion was large. 4 pieces of fish, fries and slaw. Don't mind saying I'm a pretty big eater and I did not have dessert, no room to put it. Wife had the fish of the day which was tuna, grilled on tacos. I tried a bite of hers and it was amazing. Our aunt had the fried shrimp dinner, 12 pieces of fairly large shrimp. She could only eat 8, I had the other 4, hence no dessert. However the shrimp was fried just right and was was not overly breaded. The other couple with us also had the fish and chips, they also said the best they ever had. Our waitress was kind, answered all our questions and her service was on it! We come to this general area ( Corolla) often during the summer months to drive out onto the beach and enjoy the water and sun. Rest assured that we will be adding this restaurant to our dinner plans...
