Monarch Steak House & Lounge — Restaurant in Mapleton Township

I will dream about this meal. My boyfriend and I visited aspen this past week and, as most people do on vacation, we ate out every night. Monarch was by far our favorite meal and experience of the trip. We were late in calling for a reservation, but luckily they were able to accommodate us and we sat within seconds of arriving. Our waiter, Teddy, recommended - almost insisted the “table side ceasar salad” which was absolutely incredible and has officially become the only ceasar salad I can ever eat from now on. (Joking but not). We split the porterhouse steak which was perfect and came with two sides which were equally delicious. As impressive as the food was, our waiter Teddy made our experience even that much more entertaining and enjoyable. His service was impeccable. He made us feel important and cared about while dining, and also managed to keep us laughing all the while. Stopped in on a Friday night. Unfortunately the prime rib was sold out by 7pm.

I ended up splitting the petite sirloin and lb of Alaskan King Crab.

Steak had a nice flavor and cooked to perfection.

The crab legs were so/so. They came pre sliced so that helped considering they forgot to bring the proper crab silverware until they were about gone.

A few bites were definitely fishy tasting. But overall good for South Dakota. Not on many menus around here.

I feel that the 1 lb claim was a bit off. I had 1 lb in Alaska and it was a full two legs..this seemed like about 1.5 or 1.75.

I couldn't have been more disappointed with my brother's and my New Year's.We arrived at 2:30 and was asking about dining for the evening. We were told a Reservation wasn't necessary for just two people. We were told we could eat in the lounge or the dining room. Then the bartender was placing reserved signs on all the tables in the lounge so once again asked about a Reservation for the dining room again not necessary.
