Custom Sweets by Sarah — Restaurant in Maplewood

Sarah made a cake and cookies for my daughter’s second birthday party and oh my gosh, did she deliver!

Even though I basically asked her to recreate some items I’d seen on her Instagram feed instead of going totally custom, I got the sense that I could have asked for something completely original and she’d be able to make it happen! She is such a talented baker and decorator!

The cake (chocolate with strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream frosting) was one of the most delicious I’ve ever had and everybody said they loved it. Reviews from guests on the taste of the cookies were mixed (though by all accounts they were freaking adorable); my wife thinks maybe it was something specifically about the ones with black frosting. I think they were all delicious. But everybody has their own taste, you know?

As a former wedding planner in the twin cities, I have loyalties to a small handful of cottage food bakers, but I may just be putting some of those loyalties aside to come back for more Custom Sweets by Sarah for my future...

I was set on having Finn cakes made for my husband's birthday because we both share a love for the show Adventure Time and it was always a question of ours what they would taste like so I decided to have them custom made. So I decided to go with Custom Sweets by Sarah since they had such good reviews. Communication was great, she was always responding to emails and messages within the day they were sent and made sure that all the details I wanted were met. I went to go pick them up and oh boy, not only were they abso-fu#$ing-lutely delicious but they were so genius, I had worried about how she was going to make the top of the cupcake steady but she managed to do it by filling it with a rice crispy treat! That wasn't even part of the order but was a very VERY pleasant surprise, and the prices??? Extremely reasonable, worth every penny. My wife and I wanted to make our Seniors Graduation party Special. My wife is always looking for that one thing that stands out. After hitting dead ends, Sarah replied to one of the many emails that were sent out to local small business. Sarah was so friendly and professional. They exchanged many emails, both bouncing ideas off of each other. Sarah was very helpful. The sugar cookies WERE AMAZING!!!!!! the decorating on the each cookie was PERFECT.
