Arroyo Grille — Restaurant in Maricopa

One of the few places which has some atmosphere. A golf course you could look at out the window or just enjoy the inside which was nice too. We finally found a place we can go to and take others with us for something other than burgers or pizza. Our story:

We showed up without a reservation and we were seated by the waiter at a table marked as reserved for ~2 hours later. The waiter said we would need to be out by then. No problem as we had time.

It was Good Friday and we thought we would try the fish fry. Found out it occurs on Wednesdays. My wife did not like the other fish alternatives. About that time, the waiter returned and announced the cook agreed to do the fish fry.

This was a plus, an accommodating restaurant and a waiter who tries to please!

The fish was nicely done and served at an appropriate temperature, good crispy coating, and nicely done fries. not salty, which was a plus. Tartar sauce came with the fish. Accompanying the meal, my wife chose what we believe to be a good red wine . . . "Conundrum" and I chose a good bourbon . . . Basil Hayden. Dinner accomplished.

My wife and I finally found a place we like and do not have to travel far to enjoy it.

There are times when things do not go right or as planned. This early evening, things worked in our favor. I always found it is important to give some leeway, make the issues known, and give another chance to make it right. No one likes to lose customers and customers should be fair.

Tip the wait staff at least 20% and more if the service is excellent. Our waiter...

Wish i could give no stars. Took my daughter to lunch and it was a disaster. They told us to seat ourselves so we sat down. Only 2 other tables had people inside and about 5/5 outside. There were at least 5 servers for everyone. After we sat down it was almost 20 minutes till someone came to ask us for our order and give menus after having each server look at us And then leave. All the servers saw us waiting forever. We ordered and off She went. Another 15/20 mintues go by and i have to flag her down for our drinks to be brought, then she told me they were out of their French dip, 20 minutes after ordering it. I said ok I'll take the club on sourdough bread with swiss. So we're at 40 minutes since we got there. Then they bring my daughter ice cold onion rings. Mine is a deli sandwich, not a club. No bacon, not toasted and the wrong cheese. Ok not a huge deal so i ask for it to be fixed. 10 minutes later she brings the same sandwich that wasn't fixed but they grilled it like a grilled cheese with cheddar cheese again, not swiss. I told her to take it off my bill and i don't want it. Off she went. Worst wait staff , awful cooks, can't rate their food since neither of us got to eat after over an hour waiting. No, im sorry, no, can we make it right, just the bill and we left. Really...

Came for breakfast on a Friday like we usually do, just two people. Had to walk ourselves in. No menus. No greeting. Only two other tables. We sat down and were completely ignored by the two waitresses. They knew we were there because ten minutes in I asked if we could take some silverware rolls because there was oil all over the table. Still waiting. They took seven different golfers coming in after us for takeout orders and still wouldn’t even bring us menus. When a third group came in for more orders taken before us, we finally decided to leave. We come every week for breakfast and were just here last night for dinner. When I went up to the bar to ask what was going on, only attitude from both waitresses and no rectification. I’ve never seen these two servers before so hopefully they are new and don’t stay long. If you are only going to cater to people getting alcohol and take out orders, don’t have a sit down restaurant. But they weren’t ignoring the other two tables. Only difference was we clearly weren’t dressed for golfing. What an utter mess this restaurant has...
