KB’S BBQ — Restaurant in Marion

The food was great! I loved my catfish, and my granddaughter loved her chopped pork. (She did not like that her bun was toasted, I wish we had been given an option) Unfortunately, the service was not great. I've only been there once, four years ago, and my 5 year old granddaughter had never been there, so we knew nothing about their menu. But I literally could not get the waitress to answer my questions. And the little bit she did tell me contradicted what the menu said! Ordering was not pleasant. And then when we were done and ready to leave, we could not get anyone to come to the table! Absolutely NONE of the employees would make eye contact with me while I desperately searched for someone that i could ask for a take-home container and our bill!! One employee stood on the other side of the counter beside our booth boxing up desserts and would NOT look up! I finally reached over and took my own box... which finally got peoples attention! So they brought me a to go cup and my bill. When we went to pay, the person running the cash register (the same person who would not acknowledge me while packing up desserts) was on the phone.... F O R E V E R! She FINALLY put the call on hold to ring us up, and we got out of there... to a disaster of a parking lot that LITERALLY took me 10 minutes to get out of!! I truly want to support small businesses!! And the food really was very good. But we were not made to feel welcome or appreciated AT ALL!! And there is no excuse for the parking situation! They've been in business long enough they should have an organized parking lot that does not leave...

Really wanted to try this place because you can smell the smokey barbecue every time you drive by. However, after walking in I was very disappointed in the decor. It looks like a very old run-down Diner. The menu is very small, filthy and not a lot to offer as far as BBQ which is all that you smell when you drive by. One positive is the prices are very reasonable. One friend had a catfish sandwich which was undercooked and mushy. Another friend had the barbecue melt with chicken strips very small, overcooked chicken and the mac and cheese was dry because it had been sitting under a heat lamp for too long. I had the barbecue melt with the barbecue and a side of french fries. The french fries were the best part of the lunch, they were hot and crunchy even though there were only about 12 of them, disappointing. The sandwich itself was cold and was not smokey at all! Barbecue was the worst I've ever had it tasted reheat it on the grill it was full of fat and tasted like a dirty Grill. The bun was even awful it had been toasted but obviously on the same dirty Grill. The french fries taste like they were fried in dirty Grease. I am very disappointed this makes about the six time I'm eating at that restaurant every time before that I raved about the meat. I don't know what they did this time but the food was just absolutely awful. And to make matters worst they did not even try to make compensation they never even offered a piece of pie a cup of coffee anything.
