Well people idk if some yall have not ate Good food In yalls life or not.... but Wen I eat I like to eat a good meal... wen I have guests over n I cook I cook good taste'n meals... for the ones on here say this place is good or great... ya must like eating garbage! I stopped here today. .. an read reviews on this UGALDES RESTAURANT an read some bad n some good.....more good... an read bout some specific meals also... especially the steak. ... well I'm a old school Trucker 30yrs. ... n I gotta tell yall.... if yall think this place's food is good... n clean.... an good attitudes on the staff.... well let me tell you my story straight up...went inside was not greeted by no staff... took a shower that morning n didn't Smell hahahahah... n not bad looking man.... but Wen I sat down... heard several greets to couples that came in after me... Hell the loves truckstop make u feel more at home...anyways Waitress poor attitude... all she wanted everyone to know was her 6 kids she had...big deal lady... hope they don't act like you... asked for sweet tea with lemon... brought it to me the tea sucked n she knew it.. brought me a mellow yellow better.... jus opened the menu... what will u have... I said umm I jus opened the menu... she came back... I said yall cook a good Steak here... she said I guess...? I said t bone or ribeye.... both good I guess she said ?... hmmnn. .. I should've jus walked out n went to micky d's... ordered the ribeye medium well/ little pink... bake tater green beans n a salad.... salad was soak n wet SUCKED...steak one bite... I told her thus steak is burnt! It's well done... she replied that's what I thought? ... hmmnn.... checked on me 1 time... the whole meal FREAKING SUCKED... n I told the cashier an made dam sure everyone in there heard me... 27 dollars for a meal that SUCKED n didn't even offer me a discount.... long story... I wanted all you Great review givers to feel at home...Cleanliness dirty... under the tables n all... bathroom smelled.... so if all yall good review givers on this place r good with that kind of food n service.... yall r definitely Un nourished. ... an if yall want some good taste'n food..... Head south.... an if by some chance it's not good... they'll give ya back your money or a discount.... Southern Hospitality at its best.... Sleeper told ya......

My husband and I are truckers and we decided to park at the truck stop across from this restaurant. We decided to try this place out. We made our order with a waiter that seemed like it was her first day working she didn’t know the basics like what type of cheese they have or what type of drinks they have or even the most popular food ordered at that restaurant. We made our order and then the food arrived. usually before we place an order the waiter always mentions that the portions are fairly big but in our case we weren’t told anything when the food arrived it looked like it can feed three people My husbands food hasn’t arrived yet and then he mentioned to me maybe I should go ask the waiter if she can cancel an item we ordered which only costed $4.99 because we decided to share my food to eliminate waste. She refused to do that and stated “ that you need to pay for everything you ordered” so we told her nicely and calmly okay that is fine but we really don’t want to cause your business a burden and make you waste food that will be made but not eaten. Some time passed and she came out with the manger he told my husband that he was yelling at the waiter and being rude when realistically why would he be rude about something like that when we were trying to do them a favor? He decided to tell us to leave even though we were under the impression everything was fine. He was the one that was being rude and disrespectful to customers that were just trying to support his small business. As we were speaking we tried to tell our side of the story and he didn’t want to hear it. When he stated that my husband was yelling at the waiter he addressed the waiter that was standing to the side of the manger if indeed he did “yell”and she hesitated when she said “yes” the whole time she was standing there shaking it was ridiculous we have never encountered this type of treatment. Worst dining experience I’ve had in years… maybe ever. We were en route back to Central IL from a mad dash to Detroit for a passport emergency… stopped at Ugaldes because it was not a chain, right by exit, & has great reviews. Waitress was initially very friendly. Kids ordered Mickey pancakes (which weren’t technically available and had an up charge for bacon or sausage, but that’s all good… she made it happen for the kids)… I ordered fried walleye & my wife got the baked catfish. My meal came out right away, but with no side. Fish was super cold (like room temp cold) and greasy. Baked potatoes was so cold the shredded cheese didn’t even melt on it. 15 min later, kids pancakes came out. Weird, to be so much out of order, but maybe kitchen was having a bad night. I asked for my Broccoli, & she said it was coming right up. My wife still didn’t get anything to eat. 45” later, I gave up on my nasty cold food, a couple sat down next to us and had food (fish and broccoli just like we ordered) within 5 minutes! That’s when I got up to ask them to cancel her food order, we will pay, & be on our way… she could get a burger at a chain or something. No apology was made, & they offered a “to go box” for her food that she never received. I said just give us a refund, & the food came out finally as I was speaking. She decided to eat anyway at this point and we could just get back on the road. Hers was hot, but she said it didn’t taste right, so she only ate a few bites, finished the broccoli, & baked potato & we left. 36-48 hours later, she had horrible stomach cramps, diarrhea, & nausea that laid her up for her entire Memorial Day! We are both healthcare practitioners & knew immediately that it was food poisoning!
