Was overall an OK place. I stopped here on a road trip with my four year old son. Was not seated and the only available booth was covered with dirty dishes. I ordered two slices of hot cherry pie (how I asked for it), and a hot chocolate with whipped cream for my son and a coffee for me. The waitress was very unfriendly, took seven or so minutes to take our order, seeing as how she was awfully busy chatting with locals before she could clean our table. We waited almost another ten minutes for our food. The pie was served cold and tasted days old. My son's hot chocolate had a burnt taste, was not stirred/mixed all the way and the whipped cream was forgotten. The coffee was probably the best part of the entire experience but the creamers were awful (had a distinct taste of being a year old), our napkins were used, and when I wanted to pay, the waitress tried to over charge me until I referenced costs from the actual menu which I had to find myself. And then our waitress herself who rang us up asked to my face if I was leaving a tip and proceeded to snarl when I replied "no." The cafe itself is alright. The restrooms were bearable, the decor is very out dated, the locals seem friendly. Would I come here again? Probably not. Would I recommend going here? Probably not. But I can't say I tried enough food to make a real critique. The food may be worth it if they can serve it the way it is asked for. Otherwise, if ever in Ritzville, Washington and looking for a place to eat, skip the truck stop Jake's Cafe. Not worth the...
Read moreThis was our second time. I myself wouldn't have stopped again unless necessary. But my husband likes there corned beef hash. (Out of a can and no onions) so we got up early and drove an hour after working all weekend and said let's go to Jake's. Stop in. There are quite a few locals. Which is great. Part of its charm other then coffees not that great and the bathrooms are not the best. Food decent. The waitress takes our order. Then takes the table of four behind us, locals. I'm a table of 2. The table of four of locals gets there food first. One of them also has the hash. I'm perturbed, but understanding. For all I know it's the waitresses family? They own the place? Maybe. Our food comes shortly after. Mine is stone cold. I ate my bacon and a few of the hash brown. So knowing what my plate looked like, it had been sitting up there for a long time. I could see it up there. I splurged and got the biscuits and gravy. Like a rock. And not lying. Stonecold. Eggs were over easy and stonecold with undone whites. I ordered over medium. Which I can handle if hot, but not stone cold. Only thing my husband ate was the hash as it was the only thing hot. Needless to say I told my husband not to leave a tip. He wrote on the receipt the meal was cold. The waitress had the gall to say "why didn't you tell me?" What? Why didnt you do your job. We...
Read moreWe enjoyed our Taco salad and our waiter was awesome he was very professional. The place was very warm and welcoming. We are on a 15 state 35 day road trip and just passing through. Me and my wife are business owners and encourage customer service. Today while having lunch we both witnessed a waitress at this place with two separate customers . Talk rudely to one and no patience with another. One elder woman came out the bathroom to tell her the floor was sticky and there was no paper towels. She answered her by saying I will get to it when I get to it. Twice she answered this lady that way. Then another elder woman was sitting at the counter but taking her time to order. Because she looked confused so when she finally placed her order and the same waitress rudely walked away looked at my wife and said it's about time. I was shocked this girl even has a job there. Customer service is very important and if you don't know how to treat them quit. I tried calling the manager leaving message after message her name is Becky. Hopefully she will talk to this girl and help her with her attitude. Manny and...
