Five stars could never, ever be enough. Hands down, the best food I've had in all of Maine, maybe all of the Northeast. When you walk in, the scents of smoke, roasting meat, sweet maple, and tangy bbq envelop you. It's small and cozy but not at all cramped. The service was phenomenal, the owner and staff beyond friendly. We had the loaded fries to start, and man were they loaded. Every thick, hand-cut, perfectly cooked fry was covered in cheese and bacon. Then the burgers, BBQ, and sides came out. This food was *so good.* The burgers were artfully styled and piled with flavor. And HUGE portions! I had the bourbon burger, my son devoured the Hawaiian, and my husband tore into the riblet dinner. The biscuit tasted FRESH and fluffy. Then... The waiter asked if we wanted dessert, which was a special spice cake. My son wanted to try it so we ordered a slice. We'd actually been sitting near the owner/chef and had chatted back and forth a bit, super sweet gentlemen. He'd mentioned that it was a very old, Native American recipe. When I bit into that cake, I started crying. That one bite took me back a decade, to before my grandmother passed away, sitting at her table in Oklahoma. She called it raw apple cake, because she added diced, raw apples to the batter. They cook down to almost nothing but add moisture and density and sweetness like nothing else. I told him that, through an embarrassing amount of tears. He was floored that I recognized the recipe, and we both ended up in tears after he called his own mom to tell her. I was already impressed with the food, but that was an absolute gift from the universe. And from the owner, literally, as he wouldn't let me pay for the cake. I am so thankful that we stopped by Timberwolves today, and we will definitely go back before we leave next week.

2 weeks ago my family packed up and moved to Caribou. This area is all new to us as we are originally from Searsport, Me. which is about 4 hours south of this County. As we ventured out looking for a restaurant, not many were open and what was open was soon closing. I ended up looking on Google and found Timberwolves was not only open but had BBQ as well (husbands favorite) so we went, keeping in mind new places for me is crucial as I am myself can be very critical on not only the food but the staff. As we pulled in we were greeted at the door by the owner Michael, to me this was a good start so far. We went in and instantly we were blown away by the inside. The fact that this place was very much proud of their heritage spoke to me as I am Native American. I felt at home. I could sense this was the place to be and I was not wrong! Our food was phenomenal. Each plate was different but unbelievably delicious. The hospitality of these people made you feel warm inside and welcome. Like sitting at the dinner table at family Sunday gatherings. I could tell the owner knew his way around a kitchen and that he had been doing this for a very long time. He and his wife took pride in each meal they prepared. We talked with him throughout the whole meal as if we all had known each other for years. To say I enjoyed Micheal's company is an understatement. To hear his life story hit my heart and I could tell he was very much a proud man and rose above the ashes of life's road like a Phoenix. If I could give a rating more than 5 stars, I would, I'd give them all the stars! We will be back, this shall be our new "home" away from home. Thank you for your time, great food, conversation and overall kindness. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sam, James & kids

My wife and I stopped by Timberwolves Restaurant for the first time on Monday Oct 14. We parked in front and noticed the restaurant was closed. Moments later and well dressed host came out and said “Were you looking to see if we’re open? Come on inside.” So we did. We were met by the owner who gave us a warm welcome and a friendly smile and said the restaurant was closed today, but they were there taking care of a few things, and would be happy to cook something for us. THE FOOD was absolutely AMAZING! The host’s attention to detail was remarkable. The kindness of the owner and host was second to none, as was the overall experience, the atmosphere, the service, the warm welcome, the friendly smile, and polite conversation. I’ve been to many restaurants, never one quite like this - one that was so warm and inviting, with such kind people, and the best food I had ever had in a restaurant. My wife said, “How are we going to describe what the food tastes like?” I replied, “Tell them is like Heaven on an outdoor grill.” I highly HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. I’ve never had a business say, we’re closed, but since you’re here we’re open for you. I’ve never had a host bring fresh napkins mid meal…except this one, I’ve never had catering service and dine-in combined, but this was. I only gave it a five star review because there was no option to rate it any higher. My wife and I have shared our AMAZING account of this day’s events with several people now and telling them “Have you ever ate at Timberwolves Restaurant in Mars Hill? You need to. It’s amazing!” For certain we will be back….did I mention I’m highly impressed. Respectfully, Alan McManus
