SCAMMERS, CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS AND MAKE SURE THEY'RE ITEMIZED!!

I've been coming here for 20 years due to this being a local watering hole in the area. I haven't spent time in the bar area or gotten food here in quite a few years, but I grab packaged goods from time to time... usually only in Sundays because they're open.

I happened to notice a couple months ago that my charge seemed a little off, but mainly because I needed the receipt to upload to Ibotta for points...so I came back for my itemized receipt to find out that they overcharged me. They were apologetic, but I could tell that it was on purpose and they gave me my change back, which was almost $2! I paid cash for this transaction.

At this very moment I'm writing a nastygram in their parking lot as I dealt with a nasty lady I've never seen before behind the counter. She yelled at me to sign my receipt and I told her that 'she didn't need to yell at me and to have a better night.' I get out to the car with my husband and look at my itemized receipt and see they charged me an additional 50¢. I asked my husband to go inside and dispute it for me because I was infuriated. He spoke with the owner and supposedly they charge the additional fee for transactions under $10, although there was nothing posted saying so. Apparently she was supposed to disclose this and I would have had no problem picking up a couple items or getting a bigger bottle. I got my 50 cents back, because I don't like people defrauding me out of principal.

We will not be purchasing anything else from Charlie Brown's and the main reason I'm writing this review is to check...

Best Kenyan Nyama Choma (Grilled Meat) on the east coast hands down. So we all love a good hole in the wall eatery and thats definitely the vibe here. Covid killed the traffic into this place but that's fine cuz there's less of a wait. THE FOOD IS AMAZING!!! Simple menu but sooo good. The ambiance is lacking but my eyes were closed as I capture the flavour of the food in every bite so it didn't matter. I meet the owner and he was so nice, inviting and extremely accommodating. Take away is also always an option. If your contemplating getting food from here just stop reading reviews and place your order now, then thank me later. This man knows his craft. Things to remember: at the moment its cash only and since your getting real authentic african style grilled meat there will be a wait but it will be worth every second....

I only visit because of a special dish prepared in this hangouts kitchen.

First, there's a liquor store. Also facing the road is the hangout- I don't know what else to call it. It's a local with alcohol and music from time to time- not always.

On the corner is a kitchen that sells Kenyan cuisine. Goat meat( nyama choma) ugali( cornmeal) samosas and my personal favorite -chips karanga.

Fair prices on food and great...
