My family has a yearning for ice cream every week, itās an opportunity to have some family time going out to get ice cream and talking. We were definitely excited that an ice cream shop was opening in Edgewood, so we went there right away. My first experience was okay, we had to ask for spoons for our ice cream and they were across the room, not ideal. The ice cream was good, but definitely store bought.
My second experience was the WORST. EVER. I went there with my entire family of 5, as I only went with my brother before. I went inside to order the ice creams and the lady wasnāt aware of what she was doing at all. They constantly run out of regular cups which shouldnāt be an issue if you own an ice cream shop, they are constantly bumping into each other and are REALLY slow. Another worker caught my eye, and this made me realize that I would never come to the store again.
The customer sweetly corrected the worker. āAh, Iām sorry, I wanted that in a cup, not a cone!ā The customer said. The worker rolled her eyes and let out a big sigh. āSorry.ā She mumbled. āIāll just leave it in the cup.ā The worker added and SHOVED the ice cream with the cone into the cup and gave it to the customer, working on the next order. I could tell the customer was already unsatisfied and this was something that couldnāt be ignored. The worker kept making the customerās other ice creams, putting them in a cup. āOh, those were supposed to be in a cone, you got them mixed!ā The customer said. āOh my godā¦ā The worker said, slamming the cups onto the counter. Not to mention, she discontinued treating the customer and stormed off into the kitchen. Terrible customer service.
The ice cream portions are just horrendous, 4$ for a small little portion of ice cream that I could eat in 5 minutes. This brings me back to another experience I had here, my father ordered a regular and they provided him with a smaller cup than what was on display. He noticed when he ALREADY paid full price for the order, so he confronted the worker. The worker said, "Oh, sorry. We ran out of regular cups, but we gave you more in that cup." That was a COMPLETE lie, the cup wasn't even filled to the brim. When stores run out of a certain size they give you a LARGER size because it's their fault that they ran out. It also tastes like it was bought in the food lion behind the creamery. The toasted coconut flavor is awful as well, it tastes like cardboard/paper.
The toppings also tasted so bad, SO bad. I asked for hot fudge and they gave me less than a teaspoon of cheap-tasting syrup, I also played full price for the toppings so if anything they should be good. It wasn't hot, nor fudgy...
Overall, this place was an absolute wreck. I understand that owning a business, especially starting it can be difficult, but there's no excuse for what happened. I will NEVER...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLike many Penn State graduates, I consider myself to have a solid education in ice cream. After all, the Penn State Creamery is legendary, and even Ben & Jerryās got their start by taking the universityās famous ice cream short course.
So, when I moved to Harford County a few years ago, I did what any self-respecting ice cream enthusiast would doāI set out to try every creamery in the area. And as expected, there are some excellent ones, especially as you head farther into the countryside. But to my surprise, one of the best creameries Iāve ever been to wasnāt nestled in a quaint farm townāit was in Edgewood, of all places.
Now, some people might wonder: How different can one scoop of ice cream really be from another? The answer isāa lot. Many shops use a common base for all their flavors, simply adding different flavorings to mix things up. Not Edgewood Creamery. Their ice cream stands out not just in flavor, but in craftsmanship.
Have you ever had ice cream that tastes great at first, but then sort of fades while you eat it? Youāre left with the sensation of cold and sweet, but not much else. That can often be blamed on stabilizers used to extend shelf life. Againānot Edgewood Creamery. Their ice cream keeps delivering flavor, scoop after scoop.
Many of their flavors are unique, intensely flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Iāve had a lot of ice cream in my day, and Edgewood Creamery has earned a spot near the top of my list. If youāre anywhere nearby, itās worth the trip.
Highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe visited this location Sunday May 26th around 4:05 PM. Memorial Day weekend. There were no customers in the store when we entered. There was a young blond girl behind the counter, (I actually believe this is the owner based off the IG page) anyways said girl saw us come in but never greeted us. We stood there waiting for her to say hello, she never did. We stood around giving her the benefit of the doubt since she was scooping a pint of ice cream (mind you we were the ONLY customers present). Me while another male employee came out of the restroom, we made eye contact and he continued to the back without saying hello.
We figured once the blond girl/OWNER was done, she would greet us and take our order⦠she did not, she walked toward the back out of our view and started a conversation with another employee who was in the back. We waiting about another minute before leaving without ordering.
What a shame for the small business- they are ruining the experience for customers. If youāre not going to greet customers or even acknowledge their presence⦠why work in food service? Why open a...
