Killarney House — Restaurant in Maryland

Well, it may be the only bar in Davidsonville Maryland technically but it is the BEST one :-) and for the alll the time we lived in Davidsonville Maryland outside of Annapolis and outside of DC – it was fabulous option for both brunch happy hour even lunch. I suppose beggars can't be choosers as I was spoiled after living almost a decade in DC before hand and a bride in big cities before that but this suburban Irish pub does it right. Great friendly staff owners good food and great brunch especially my little boys love it. Grandma and grandpa I love it too. The hours aren't especially known for their amazing food but St. Patrick's Day certainly is fine. But no joke it's the only place in the small town that serves technically a real bar but others are def close by @ Edgewater md and then in Annapolis the state capital are both super close by - like 5-15 min of course. But if you live in small town farm country Davidsonville Md & need to get out with your mom friends, the guys, or no joke want yummmmy unlimited Sunday brunch food buffet ( boys luv that part) well you can choose from tons of yum options like biscuits n gravy, eggs, bacon, pancakes then of course your typical Irish 🍀 fair plus some lunch AUCE salads but -generally great breakfast food- places awesome and perfect for that. Honestly After living in DC I was spoiled so no longer a restaurant blessed us every 10 feet but this is a great family little spot that we always return to- in addition the owners - well we'd met awhile back and they were great !! Funny is my husband and I had recommended they take advantage two people wanting to eat outside, along with the local nursery and their billions of flowers in season which is like less than a mile away, add that to people that want to be able to smoke outside at night time sometimes but not disturb others – well there is beautiful areas now I guess - we totally are like marketing people haha and we just suggested possibly they'd cover the parking lot front facing ( where there were dining tables/bar tables later) with some of the wonderful florals hanging plants from local fellow Main Davidsonville big biz Homestead Gardens (the local huge nursery, biggest one of it's kind apparently on the friggin entire mid Atlantic coastal areas- and it close aka practically walk- Best festivals/fall festival ever – and I'm not kidding - I have lived all over the world – it's def amazing that one other place too- Seriously the length of like three football fields and wishy) ANYHOW we always joke that they actually took our initially "city advice" about partnering with this wonderful nursery because the Irish pub looks great and covered in flowers from the road right now from like floor to top ceilings - super beautiful now– they did so about a year later – surreal like yesterday we were talking like about this with the owners way back in like 2010 and they agreed/laughed that yes YES they totally listened to design/marketing partners advice as such and always looks even more like gorgeous Irish gardens each year!! And I'm officially allowed to say that because I used to live in the UK with just a few visits to super green Ireland and it's wonderful people anyhow... as you can see it's a positive review. Now more fun people like you need to go there :-) and talk to bartenders & owner/s and see how they are and did welcome feedback from locals just like fun peeps like you – :-) so even nowwww looks awesome you can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful flowers too and you won't even know you're facing parking just like um 25 ft from Rt 214 where commutes are happening on the road...

This was our first time here and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We started things off with The corned beef poppers. I have anticipated a totally different flavor and my wife doesn't even like corned beef yet She liked this. I didn't anticipate the wonderful mustard being an accent to the flavor, but it was Definitely a go out and get them now. For our main course I got the Irish vegetarian boxty and my wife got the medieval beef stew. She said that was the best beef stew she'd ever had. I really enjoyed the boxty. The boxty is a would recommend and the beef stew is a go out and get it now.

I finished off the meal with a bread pudding and it is definitely a would recommend. The birds vanilla custard is the bomb! All in all, I had a great time here eating and have to also recommend that the bathrooms are extremely clean and well maintained.

2022-6-29 It has been 3 weeks since our last visit. I wanted to come back because the food was so good. Here is my review of what we tried this time.

The first thing I want to say that I didn't mention before was that they have Coke products.

Today we started with:

Killarney Cabbage Wraps

Fresh cabbage leaves, champ potatoes, house angus corned beef, hand rolled and topped with Irish mustard sauce.

I give these a meh plus.  They were good and unusual. The Champ potatoes inside with the corned beef was good and the cabbage exterior was crunchy and good.

Donna, got the:

Fish and Chips

Wild cod, hand-dipped in homemade beer batter, Irish chips, tartar

Wifey and I give this a meh and would not order it again.  Donna says the fish wasn't salty enough and I thought they were just average.

I got the:

Chicken Mac N Chicken

Macaroni, cheese, chicken baked casserole, seasoned bread crumbs, steamed vegetables

I detected zero bread crumbs but the chicken and the macaroni and cheese was a would recommend. There was at least one piece of chicken in every single bite and it was definitely not skimpy on the chicken.  It had a very filling, comfortable food flavor.  I would definitely order this again except for The fact that I love the corned beef poppers and the medieval beef stew so much more. I wanted them today so badly but I wanted to try other things.  🤪

For dessert, Wifey got the pineapple upside down cake. It was a meh plus. Something different but doesn't stand out.

I got the bread pudding again. Bread pudding is definitely a would recommend and I enjoyed it just as much the second time.

I wish I could split the stars for my rating but it does not give that option. So service one star ! Food four stars ! The door man four stars ! Waitress one star ! Manager one star !

The door man was very nice and pleasant. He explained we must wear our mask to our table, walking around, and to the bathroom. I totally understand due to COVID and have no problem with it. We came to meet friends for the music. It was my first time here, and will be my last. We were told it was self seating outdoors. We sat at a table ,and a lady came up to us. She said wait let me wipe your table down. It was a mess ! Not really following COVID rules if you ask me. I watched the whole time we were there, and saw other people leave . I didnt see staff really wiping down the tables after people left. Some lady came up to us in street like clothes and took our drink order. A young man came back with our drink order and said he would be back. Another 20 minutes went by ,and we waved down another waitress. That waitress took our food order. Again the food is really good! The service not good at all! We wanted water and more drinks and it took awhile to get those too. Our friends waved us over to move to a table next to them. Before we could even reach for our mask as we were standing. A lady saying she was the manager came over and said you need to put your mask on. Well she didn't give us a chance to put our mask on. I don't know why she came up to us because she didn't do it to others. I watch ALOT of others that she was very friendly with (they seem to be regulars) were running around without mask the whole time...
