Little Red Barn Ice Cream Cafe — Restaurant in Maryland

Aug. 2021 & Dec. 2019 - We live in Maine, but when we pop in for a visit with family. . . Little Red Barn ( Jefferson, MD) is a cute little ice cream place that offers more on its menu with sandwiches, soups, chips, etc.

We called in our lunch order “for pick up”. The sandwiches were fresh Turkey, ham, with garden fresh tomatoes, and lettuce, on our choice of 7 grain bread, or wheat toast, or ciabatta bread! They pack a wonderful lunch with pickles & chips!

The Hershey Ice Cream is the reason to stop here for old fashion hand dipped scoops piled high with a variety of sauces. I recall Giffords Ice Cream back many years ago, wonderful memories swirl about like the Capuchino crunch in my wife's cup!

South Mountain Creamery is a local farm that provides the fresh ingredients for this great tasting ice cream. There's about 20 flavors of ice cream that most people will appreciate . . . I prefer the mint choc chip, and roadrunner flavors covered in butterscotch, but alas I had to swirl my scoops in chocolate fudge instead ( like that's a terrible 2nd choice).

Heck , come in during Christmas time with the decorations up, or summer time under the patio table umbrellas. . . anytime of the year for great Ice Cream! Thumbs up 👍🏼 4.80 rating!

My kids favorite ice cream, my favorite BLT 😁 Great place, yummy food, fantastic staff. Was my initial review Initially, I gave them a 5 star rating but the last few times I went, there was an older woman there who you could tell was trying to be friendly at first but quickly lost it, ya know, cause you may have changed your mind mid order one time or something. She was inpatient and a little pushy. She just had a crappy attitude. I get that it's summer and you serve ice cream and it's busy.... but it's summer and you serve ice cream, of course it's busy. So get over it or don't work there. There is another girl there who acts like we're bothering her every time we come in. But there's a couple of really sweet friendly guys there who I applaud for working with such nasty women. I used to really like going there and kept going after the last 3 or 4 attitudes I got there, because everybody has a bad day. I won't hold it against you. The Little Red Barn is such a charming spot. We love to go there for a quick, light lunch on the weekend and get one of their sandwiches (maybe even split it), and then ICE CREAM! They have a great variety featuring rotating Hershey hard ice cream flavors, soft serve, and usually 3 features from local South Mountain Creamery. Our favorite part is that we can bring our dogs with us, order at the outside window, and then sit outside with them. They love chilling under the table with some water in their bowl and meeting all the patrons. AND-- the customer service -- let me emphasize how great it is. My husband loves a certain flavor of ice cream and he asked if they were getting it back anytime soon. They took his name and number and ACTUALLY CALLED when it was back in!
