UPDATE 8/3/24 WOW!!! This place has has started to go down hill. First let me say this. I understand prices have increased. Now for my latest visit 🙄. My kids took me there for my birthday for lunch, and well....right off the bat I could this place had started to go down. We walk in and it looked like the place had flooded. (Granted we did have some bad storms 2 days before but put some signs up) There was still water coming down the walls by the receptionist. We where told it would be about a 25 minute wait even though to deck was open and only had 3 family's there. So we sat at the bench by the front door and I found out the the bench was broken as I almost fell threw it. We did finally get sat on the deck where I sat again in a broke chair as I almost fell backwards because the back was bend and broken. As we sit there we look around and notice that the deck ceiling has enough dust and cobwebs on that it could be a haunted house. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned in YEARS!!! The food comes out and my smash burger was Disgusting. They don't even put real cheese on it anymore. It had that oil made cheese. Now like I said in the beginning I understand the price increases but $27 (my wife added a piece of chicken) for Avocado garden salad is way to high. The messed up my daughters order and when she asked to have removed from the check they said it was already made and she would have to just take it home to which they didn't even have any take home containers to put it in. To which then My daughter looked at me and gave me a look to keep my mouth shut because she and my son where paying and everyone just wanted to leave. This is a HUGE 180° turn from when we where last time. I really hope that the owners see this and take it heart as my wife and I "loved" this place. It's a great location and atmosphere when it was good. I can say for a fact that my family and I will not be back for a long time and when we do (if we do) my wife and I will come by the bar first and look around before we even spend that kind of money again. Yeah $140 for 5 people for lunch with no alcohol.
My wife and went to eat here tonight (4/28/18) and what a great place. They have courtesy valet parking. Hostess greeted us and had our Reserved table ready when we got there. Waitress was very informative and went over the how they get there food fresh. First we ordered the Chipotle shrimp and it was delicious. Then My wife had the Salmon and made it for her the way she liked which differed from the menu and the cook nailed it. The portion was good and filled her up. I ordered a Bison burger (Med) which came out over cooked and dried BUT the manger herself came over to talk to us and to our surprise removed the Bison from the check. You don't get much anymore. You may only get part of it removed. She was very apologetic which was not needed. She also went over their dessert menu and let us know they have their own pastry chef on staff. Over all though we had a great (much needed night with no kids) night out and will return. On a side note my wife surprised me by ordering me a pizza (while i was in the bathroom) that we picked up on the way home because she knew i would be...
Read moreHoused in what used to be the old Sander's Corner at the gateway to Loch Raven Reservoir, McFaul's honors the legacy of that establishment and elevates it with quaint dining rooms, a full service bar, fresh seafood, and more.
Parking is plentiful, with a small attached lot out front, and auxiliary parking across the street with plenty of spaces.
The interior of the restaurant is warm and welcoming. The rustic and nostalgic design makes you feel like you are stepping back in time. McFaul's is homey and unpretentious.
The staff is attentive, though that attention can seem rushed and clipped when the place is hopping. So be kind, they do an amazing job while covering many tables during peak hours.
The food though! McFaul's features a seasonal menu with weekly specials and a rotation of items sure to please. Most dishes are reminiscent of tavern fare, but elevated. Even something as simple as a pulled pork sandwich just slaps differently here, with tender pulled pork, Carolina Gold BBQ sauce, crisp and creamy slaw, nestled between a brioche bun.
The sandwich menu features classics like Reubens, Scallop Po Boy and cheesesteak and are served with your choice of house made chips, apple fennel slaw (delicious), or pasta salad. You can upgrade to a premium side for a small upcharge or add additional sides for a minimal cost as well.
For those looking for heavier fare, the entree section of the menu doesn't disappoint. Steaks, ribs, and seafood aplenty are available. Portion sizes are generous and bursting with classic flavors with local twists.
Feeling peckish? Create a sampler of your own with a mix of scratch-made sides ordered a la carte.
For those with dietary restrictions, ask your server for suggestions. The restaurant offers a variety of no meat options for vegetarian dinners from fresh salads to pizzas, and those delicious a la carte sides can be used to create a meat free meal.
The bar serves up expertly crafted cocktails and cold brew to keep you sated.
There is something for every budget here at this casual eatery so your bill can vary widely from visit to visit. Check their website for updated menus and specials.
If you arrive on a mild day, enjoy outdoor seating on the patio!

Read moreOn 8.19.21, we just returned home, and wanted to dine out one final time for our vacation. Unfortunately I left my phone home and didn't have photos/video of the encounter that took place.
Upon arrival, we walked up the back steps from the rear parking lot, and went inside. There was only one duo waiting to be seated. The first hostess came to them and then advised them another hostess will assist them. About a minute or two passed when another hostess took the party to their table. We waited about less than 5 minutes, when a male hostess came up, and advised us someone will be with us momentarily, which seemed like another 5 minutes. Finally someone came up to the hostess stand, but they were attending to a call. When the female attendant ended her call, she asked if we wanted to be seated indoors or outdoors, but requested indoor.
We were then instructed to go to the bar and was told someone will assist is further. We entered the bar area, and was never greeted or acknowledged by anyone, it was a little busy but not as busy prior to COVID. We walked and sat at the bar hoping someone would assist us. What we got was the rudest customer service ever!!! A female with dark hair came from the kitchen near the bar, asking what we needed. We advised her that the hostess upfront sent us to the bar and was informed someone from this area will assist us. She then proceeds to yell at us like it was our fault, and I informed her that her hostess advised us to come back there. We didn't come here to dine and to find insults and be yelled at. I will not, patronize here ever again, nor recommend this restaurant. I wish I could leave 0 stars. My money will not be given to an establishment that berates their customers. ----------‐----------------------------------------------------- We went here during restaurant week. The place was pretty packed. We tried a few cocktails while we waited to order. O had a hot toddy, it was nice and warm. Food was very good and we love that this spot is not far from home. Dessert was good too. We...
