Friday evening, lots of great people on the re-designed patio, bar and music stage. Lots of room to hang out while you wait over an hour for your table. The energy is fabulous outside and the music and games provided are an added bonus but you can only order 1 drink per person at the bar. So if your looking to bring your significant other a drink while they chat with other guests, you'll be disappointed. When you are called for your table, you enter a spruced up dining room but your packed in. It's a little tight. The staff was friendly, took our drink orders and apologized in advance for the slow drink returns. She said the bar was backed up. So we took her advice and we all placed our orders. She came back with most of our order but with different beers than originally ordered. My Dad's beer was warm when it arrived. We are flexible and didn't want to wait again so we drank what she brought. Our order was not taken well after 30 minutes after being seated but once we ordered the appetizers came out fairly quickly. The yatch fries had nacho cheese on them and the smallest amount of bacon bits I've ever seen. Not the tables favorite. The smoked fish appetizers were a hit and we ended up ordering another. Once our food arrived some of us were disappointed; the cheesesteak meat was over cooked and dry. The flatbread pizza looked as if it had been sitting a while and was not on flatbread. It tasted like frozen pizza that had gone luke warm. Two of us had wedge salads that were delicious and my mom's salmon came out well after ours and was pretty good. The kids grilled cheese was a hit and the strawberry shortcake was interesting and the best he'd ever had. My husband's brisket came out mediocre and instead of the mashed potatoes he ordered was served fries. After we were all finished we realized that we had never received our soups before dinner. They also never brought out one of the salads. Despite all the slowness and confused service, we had a great time. After dinner, we went back out to the patio- talked with a bunch of folks, enjoyed more live music and had another strawberry daquri for the price of $8.75.
This is our first visit back since years ago.
We were really excited to rekindle a relationship with a spot so close to home. We will likely visit the yacht club outside entertainment area and bar many more times. But we will probably avoid the restaurant inside. Better than before but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Ocean City AARP held its 2023 Christmas Party at this lovely venue. As the comments from the membership come back, OPYC receives high praise for food, service and atmosphere. The atmosphere is nothing short of beautiful. The room is large, bright and airy. The best is the wonderful water views through large windows. It's such a pretty space no additional decoration is needed beyond, perhaps, table centerpieces. We chose poinsettias. Boom, done! The space as a whole is well laid out with respect to the bar, dining area, buffet lines, restroom and coat storage, etc. Banquet manager Lia knows her business. She helped make menu selection which was a complete hit with the group. She helped work our schedule for the party so it flowed smoothly. The staff was very good, too. Their attention to detail in set up is remarkable; you won't find water marks on your table service. They are efficient and unobtrusive. Our food was was very fresh and delicious. Appetizers included beautiful presentations of cheeses, fruit and vegetables along with passed spring rolls and meatballs. We chose a buffet hot lunch, which we call "Linner" and it included flank steak, salmon and crab cake. The steak and salmon were moist and tasty in light sauces. Since we're local we tend to be snobs about crab cakes and these were a crowd pleaser, very fresh tasting and nicely seasoned. On behalf of the party planning committee, I'd like to thank the Ocean Pines Yacht Club staff for making our party a successful...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'll start this review off saying that I visited for lunch in Black Friday. So it IS the "off season." There was ONE person tending bar AND waiting tables for a decent lunch crowd. The hostess just watched her flounder with taking orders but did help deliver some food. I didn't see a manager helping. We got our drinks after about 20 minutes. The food that we did get was very good. The home-made chips were very good. However, we never received our appetizer until halfway through our entrees. I told the waitress to cancel it when the entrees were delivered. When it was brought to us, by the person I believe to be the absentee manager on duty, he first tried to bring it to the wrong table. They almost took it, stating that they thought that it was free for them. Then he tried to bring it to us. We refused it stating that it should have been an appetizer. Instead of offering it to us free of charge, he turned around and gave it to the first table that didn't order it! I was astounded. I had a salad that was supposed to have scallops on top. My scallops were never delivered despite multiple askings. I eventually gave up when the rest of my party finished eating. When the check was delivered, we were charged for the appetizer that was given to a different table! I asked to speak to a manager, but instead the hostess came and apologized. The waitress did return with the appetizer and drinks removed from the bill, which was enough of a discount for me. But the management of the service...
