As someone who loves to support local business, I was excited to try Old Salty’s. We’ve heard about it since we moved here in 2020. We had family visiting from out of town and decided it was a good time to give it a try. What a disappointing experience. The five of us got the brisket nachos and jerk chicken skewers for an appetizer (both featured specials).Nachos were good.. The chicken was over cooked and dry and very salty- impossible to even slide off the skewer. But we kept optimistic and didn’t complain. Three of us ordered the salmon (two blackened and one broiled) dinner. It was terrible. The blackened seasoning was heaped on and so salty we had to send it back. The broiled was dry and overcooked but our sister tried to make the best of it. We requested broiled instead for the replacement salmon. When it arrived it was undercooked and the quality of all the salmon was very bad. Very thin and very fishy - all inedible. The cream of crab soup was also bad. When the check arrived, they had not removed our entrees that we didn’t eat. I had to request them to be removed and it was embarrassing. There was no sincere apology, the manager never came to speak to us, nothing. We all left hungry. I don’t understand how this place has 4.5 stars. Won’t be back and it’s a real shame. Maybe they had a bad day but the way they handled it was disappointing.

We were traveling through the area and a local recommended we see the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge and stop by Old Salty’s. What a great recommendation. We pulled into the parking lot where a wedding was obviously about to begin (great venue!) and bypassed the outside tiki bar for the interior bar hoping to catch some NCAA football. The staff was very busy with the wedding and catering but took immediate care of us. We ended up staying over 6 hours watching football, drinking beer and eating some amazing food (must try the baked pineapple!!). The bartender/manager Jeff was a hoot and although he was slammed, took the best care of us. All of the staff was great and you can tell they enjoy working for such a great place. The owners - Matt and Melissa- AMAZING! They both took time to come chat with us and share their stories. The food was great too! We shared the crab cake covered with imperial sauce, grilled with mozzarella sauce and made with love. If you’ve read this far of this review - let me just mention the sunset 🤯. Beautiful and absolutely picture perfect. Great people, great staff (keep an eye on Mary!) and great location!

The seafood at Old Salty's was pretty good. The best were the fresh raw oysters, the breadless mini crab cakes and the Jumbo Lump Imperial. The prime rib was also a winner; it had to be ordered days in advance to ensure proper ageing and seasoning. However, other items on the menu were just okay, especially given the price point (e.g., the broiled salmon and the seafood platter, which weren't much to write home about). So while most food was very worthy, on the day we visited, the atmosphere was just okay, and the service was most lacking. We were seated almost immediately, but then had to wait close to an hour for our food. There was insufficient waitstaff to accommodate larger parties and they--rather than than the bartender(s)--were also responsible for mixing cocktail drinks for dining patrons! There were long delays in responding to simple requests such as additional drink straws or hot water for tea. All of the above result the average (C-) score I give to Old Salty's in Fishing Creek, MD.

My boyfriend and I went to Old salty's for the last 9 years under the old owner. New owners took over a few months ago we thought that we give them time to get it together and then we go try them out. Well we did just that. And we were very disappointed. We doubt that wewill be back again. it's not like the old salty's used to be, the portions are smaller the prices are higher the service awful. We had to wait for our food for almost an hour yes the outside was busy and the inside was not but you can tell where their focus is on the outside. We were there for an hour and a half for our dinner which should not have been that long. Numerous times we had to ask for rolls to keep us going into our food eventually got there. there were many tables available but for some reason we were squeezed into a booth where we had to sit on the same side because the wait station was on the other side of our table. It was right there which is wrong so noisy so uncomfortable, you don't see any of the old wait staff that used to be there. it's all new faces they have an outside entertainment place which they needed and it's great but that's not going to carry you in the winter with the locals when you need money come December. So disappointed so disappointed. We have never left old salty's in over 9 years without having leftovers. this weekend was the very first time we did not have any worth taking home. Portions were small prices were higher $62 for two crab cakes is ridiculous, $55 for a steak is ridiculous. So I wish them luck because they're going to need it come this winter they're either going to have to close up for a few months or maybe closes for good and old salty's is done forever so disappointed best of luck to you guys you're going to need it. It's a long ride to Hooper's Island to get to old salty's and enjoyable ride but yet a long ride and very disappointed once you get to the place and wait an hour and a half for food beer drinks rolls attention. We are going to go to boats and hoses in Taylor's Island from now on they are the old owners of the original old salty's, we are coming back to you! Old...

We went to Old Salty’s, back in 2017 or 2018, and could not understand the hype. All four of our dishes were bland or just horrible. Very unsettling to pay those prices for crap food. We have not been back since. Recently, I was on a motorcycle ride, and this was where they picked for lunch. My first instinct was to not go, but then I thought maybe it was just a bad evening for us, and they are good otherwise. Eight of us sat down and ordered our food. Some have had a decent experience, and others were similar to ours. I decided to get the prime rib sandwich, and others got a variety of crab cake sandwiches as well as smash burgers and crab cakes. First thing that annoyed a couple of us was that they brought out half of our food on a serving tray and set it on a stand next to another table of people, while they waited for the rest of our food to be ready. It sat there well over 5 minutes and when I got my food, it was not even warm. I had to ask for the horseradish that was supposed to be on my prime rib sandwich. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of it and the fact that it was juicy. Most agreed that their food was good, although a few did complain that it was very small crab cake sizes for the price. We normally go to one of four or five other places and for the same or less, we get crabcakes that are at least 50% larger. At the end of the day, I will never go out of my way to go here as it is not a destination experience in my opinion. But, if we are down that way and hungry, I will go in and eat as the overall experience was much better than the first time. Service was below average between the food sitting, having to ask multiple times for condiments, and never being asked if I wanted a refill of my drink. My guess is that they got filled up pretty quick with customers and all the orders overwhelmed the staff, so I am not going to hold that...

This was our third time heading to Old Salty's. It's a 130 mile round trip drive to go, and for our first two times dining at Old Salty's, worth every mile. This third time, not too wonderful, and not at all worth the drive. Three of us, arrived about 1:30'ish. Asked if we had reservations, replied no. No worries, we were seated within 2 minutes. Ordered apps (three, one each... and sharing). While taking the order our sever shared with us her dislike for peanut butter. (okay, but why should we care, just ordered oysters and crab dishes.) She stood there and shared that she recently drove her husband somewhere and that he brought peanut butter crackers in her car (again, why do we care?). She then shared her "barfing" face and sounds with us. Wow!! Rather disgusting. Apps came. Oysters were fantastic. Crab apps, not as much as previous times, just okay. We sat for a few minutes, server came back, asked if we needed anything else. Well, yes we do... Two if us wanted the cup of cream of crab. We were told you're too late, ran out 15 min ago... Hum, 2:30 on a Sat afternoon and you run out of you soup... crab soup, at a seafood restaurant. 2:30 in the afternoon... Okay. Said give us a couple minutes. We were told by the server she would rather not because there's a line of people waiting for a table. WTH?!?! We had been there 45 min. In a few minutes we each ordered a sandwich (2 crab cake / 1 softcrab). Then waited, and waited, and waited. And, there were three empty tables around us (what about that line of people waiting....). Very disappointing Old Salty's visit Sat. The first two times where great....not this third time. Hope last Sat was just a fluke and a really bad server and not a sign of a change at Old Salty's. We will go back, but will wait a while. And, if that same server is there and walks up, that's a big...
