I was in the area visiting another local business when the mouthwatering aroma of smoked meat met my nostrils and led me down the road to the rolling rib. A really nice, quaint, roadside, bbq place. The sign says they’re open Friday Saturday Sunday. Parking was open and plentiful, although i heard from customers waiting that they get really busy. I stopped around noon Saturday. My first thought was, “ only open on weekend?! They must be good!” So i walk inside to a counter with a menu and a lovely woman greeted me with a great smile and awesome energy. I told her today was my first visit and that the delightful smell had brought me. Another lady who was also very busy stoped and brought me a fall off the bone pork rib to try, which i thought was so thoughtful and hospitable! I knew i was ordering but the rib made it so much harder to not order everything! We had a great convo while she explained the menu to me which was really easy to understand and make choices. I settled on two brisket sandwiches with cornbread instead of bread and a pulled pork sandwich. I just got home and settled enough to dig in, and had to stop and write this review. I chose the mild, spicy mixed for my sauce. The brisket is hot, fresh, melt in your mouth tender and the sauce is just the right amount of smoky spice. The cornbread doesn’t crumble, has a nice moistness to it and is a pretty big muffin. I split in half and slapped a piece of brisket on it and took it to another level! I live nearby and will absolutely visit again, I’m tempted to swing by tomorrow after church with my girlfriend so she can try it too. Thanks so much for the amazing food and amazing service....
Read moreThis establishment is not a "Dine In" type of place with tables inside the restaurant. There are a few picnic tables outside located on the side of the building. My takeaways:
There's a sign that informs you that the food is made fresh daily and this is why customers have to wait. Be prepared for an hour long wait time.
As a first time diner at this establishment, I was pleased with the menu. Having options for people who do not eat pork and not using pork in their dishes is wise. I don't eat pork. Only beef, turkey, and fish.
I ordered a family meal which comes with two sides. I added the beverages. I found it to be upsetting that they did not have a 1 gallon container of their strawberry lemonade. I had to buy two half gallons.
Thus far their strawberry lemonade is the best that I've tasted in the years that I have been reviewing food places.
The beef ribs had a great smoke flavor, however, some of the ones I received were a bit chewy although the smoke and seasoning flavors were delicious.
The macaroni and cheese and sweet potato candy yams were good. The collard greens could use more seasoning.
The banana pudding is jive tasty. You get a nice helping of it too.
Overall, I'll go again....
Read moreThis popular restaurant is seasonal, only open during warm months (late spring to early fall), and only Friday-Sunday. It is carry out only. No seating inside as the place is too small. You order inside and wait for your food outside (or in your car), a number on your receipt will be called when the food is ready. The pork ribs and BBQ chicken are delicious, it keeps my family coming back at least once a month (I feel like going for a run when thinking about how much we eat here). Mac and cheese and Collard greens are our staples, they are okay, but not as good at the meat. There is no baked food e.g., baked chicken or fish. This is good ole southern comfort food. Can't end this review without mentioning the strawberry lemonade or as my family calls it, nectar from the Gods. It is a must try. If you're like me and don't like overly sweet beverages, you can dilute it with ice when you get home. We love this place, it's a hidden gem.
For 2018, the restaurant will close on November 10, 2018. And reopen...
