My husband and I recently celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary with a Renewal of Vows ceremony and reception. I had high hopes when we discovered the Manor at Silo Falls because of the beauty of the venue and also because of the food when we dined there the first time. Our first coordinator, Charlotte K., was a pleasure to work with. She had told us that we were to be the first LGBTQ event at Silo Falls. Less than three months before our event, Doug L., the general manager, informed us that Charlotte was no longer on staff. We were assigned another coordinator in her place named Sheyanne K. We met with her and felt as though things were in order by the time we finished, although we were extremely disappointed when on the week of our event she told us that she wouldnât be present because it was her day off. Zachary C. was supposed to be the manager on duty that night, but, he only introduced himself to us at the end of the evening as we were leaving. In fact, on the night of our event, no one introduced themselves to us or identified themselves as a person to speak with if there were any issues. During the cocktail hour we discovered that they had not set up enough tables, which in turn created problems for our seating plan. We came to find out later that when our own coordinator had come by to decorate and prepare the tables earlier that afternoon, she had informed the staff that a table was missing, but received a dismissive response. During the post-dinner time, as we were preparing to cut the cake, we discovered that the staff had removed the cake without checking and were getting ready to slice it in the kitchen. We unfortunately had to divert our attention from our guests to the problems created by non-communication of staff. Nobody from Silo Falls contacted us after our event to check in. The Manor at Silo Falls is a beautiful venue, and the food was very good. The service was strikingly disappointing. I can only hope that being their first LGBTQ event was not a factor in the subpar service. We unfortunately cannot recommend this venue to other couples. Should anyone wish to contact me with questions about our experience, I'd be...
Read moreFirst, I have to say that my meal was absolutely delicious - it was cooked accurately and was very good for a meal at this price point which was quite a surprise. Dinner salad, filet with mashed potatoes and spinach â all excellent. Unfortunately, it was everything else about this restaurant experience that dragged my rating down.
We were seated adjacent to the bar - I'm assuming because the dining area was not available? Not a good place for a dinner dining experience we found out as the night went on and the bar increased in volume. The table was half wobbly on one side for 5 people so you had to be careful about cutting your food because the whole one end of the table swayed - you might end up with a glass of wine in your lap. The server was very nice from what I could tell but we could barely hear him. I think it was a combination of his mumbling and the bar noise. One of our party didnât get his meal but when we asked what happened the server discovered the food runner left it in the kitchen. OK, not a big deal I guess but he should be making sure the orders are delivered. The food all came out at the same time â meaning dinner salads and entrees together which really wasnât ideal. Itâs tough to try and scarf down a salad so your entree doesnât get cold. Speaking of cold, the pasta entree was cold and it was for the birthday girl. We suggested she send it back but she really didnât want to make a big deal about it. We were never offered dessert and the server disappeared for close to an hour and never came back. We had to go to the manager to ask what happened and if we could get our check. At that point we really weren't interested in drink refills or dessert. The manager gave us $60 in gift cards which we did not ask for but was a very nice gesture.
All in all, outside of cooking food well this operation just appears disorganized to me. I will give them another try only because the food was so good â maybe they were having an off night? When I return, if my experience improves, I will...
Read moreI'm an Olney local who's been watching this place go downhill for a year now. Firstly, service. They are clearly understaffed. I don't blame staff for this. Everyone was friendly and helpful... when they had time. The experience. (Property is as gorgeous as ever. That's where the good news stops). Crushes from the bar are now flat and boring (didn't used to be). Friend asked for a couple of different drinks that the bar couldn't make. Draft beers are nearly nine bucks. Beer and liquors are frequently sold out, especially those on the specials/happy hour list... forcing you to order drinks off the regularly priced menu. That and the inability to get a seat at the bar is why we stopped going to happy hour a few months ago. What I did not realize is that the problems had spread beyond happy hour. We took a friend out for a belated birthday dinner on a Sunday night, and that leads me to the last nail in the coffin... the food. The plates came out at inconsistent times around the table, and everything was luke warm to cool. The pork chop was overcooked and dry, the mashed potatoes were cold. The crab cake was cold, undercooked, and gummy with an off flavor. The waitress was a champ and responded appropriately, but we had already been waiting a while and were ready to go. The other dishes were... confused. I truly think the kitchen has lost any sort of identity or perspective. In the last half year, they've tried to subtly switch over to being a steak and sides style place... but it's not really successful. Several dishes have multiple sauces that do not really belong on the same plate (i.e. crab stuffed chicken in one sauce, with mushrooms in another, next to definitely store bought pasta in a lack luster marinara). Finally... the price... not worth it. We used to love this place so much we brought relatives from out of town. We even had a memorial for my mother upstairs in 2022. My family really hopes someone rights the ship, but til then, it's off our...
