tonight I placed an order for a 9 inch steak sub no cheese because my husband is allergic to cheese and ketchup I specifically told the boy that answered the phone how my husband would like his sub I then ordered my 9-in cheeseburger subs they told us it was $32 and 15 minutes my husband leaves to go pick up the food comes home and his sub has cheese on it being that he is allergic to cheese he calls St James to let them know that the order was wrong my husband is then told that they will make another sub but he has to pay for it even if he brings the other one back first off you messed up the order so why should we pay for another sub if you messed up the one that he ordered first so now my husband doesn't get to eat tonight because the girl proceeded to tell him that they weren't going to make it anyways cuz the girls closed I guess our order was the last order of the night but to proceed to tell my husband yeah we'll make you a new one but you're going to pay for it that is unacceptable he's not the one that messed the water up whoever put the order in or whoever cooked the order did it's simple it's a plain steak sub with ketchup steak bread and ketchup simple and as my husband told them that he was allergic to cheese so he wasn't going to be able to eat tonight and she pretty much laughed about it like his allergies are a joke and just didn't care I understand these young kids need jobs but they also need to learn manners and respect for their elders we've had issues before with the plastic still being on the pepperoni on the pizza when they first opened and my child choked on it there was another time that they put cheese on another order that we had ordered in the past and we just keep giving St James chance after chance after chance because that's been a store that my husband has went to since he was a kid but I honestly think it's time to move on when they make the food right it's good but when you don't own up to your mistakes it's childish and...
ย ย ย Read moreI didn't live here in the area when the old deli building was there. I've loved this new place since it opened. They make good food here. Every dish I've tried, from their pizza... Okay, stop. Let me stop. Their pizza is so bomb. It's fire. I'm from Chi-town before I came here. I'm giving it the nod. I'm so addicted to their onion rings that every time their staff answers the phone, takes my order, like a zombie, I keep reflexively ordering, "onion rings" for the side. Anyway, enough of my first world food tribulations.
If you're in the area, or don't live in Southern Maryland, St. Mary's county, you should take in a road trip to visit the region. Their website was down last time I checked, so you'll have to browse the photos from the online reviews to see one of their menus. Stop here and eat as you're passing through. Parking lot can be a little congested, so just remember to be courteous, and folks reciprocate in kind.
It's just such a nice place to visit. Family atmosphere....

Also, Iโve seen some reviews stating that they โsteal the employees tipsโ. If you have ever been in there you can see how many people are working. If you look at the tip jars thereโs not a whole lot in them most of the time. So if they distributed it equally every day each person working might get a dollar or two. When they put the tip jars out they decided to do a weekly raffle. Employee wins their name gets taken out. And so on until everyone has gotten a piece of the pie. Seems fair to me. The owners and their daughters are some of the most kind, generous, friendly people I know. I canโt see them ever trying to โscrewโ their employees out of anything. So please donโt judge them based on an obvious disgruntled employees review. As I said before the food is amazing, the owners and their staff are amazing always...
