I’m a fan of their food truck and thought I’d give this location a go but unfortunately it just doesn’t compare.
Something just isn’t right. I visited twice before reviewing and I’m certain that I won’t return. I think I know what the problem is now.
With the food truck they have limited space and a general idea of how much food they need to use/make. Therefore the food is generally fresh and made well (quality over quantity?).
With the building location they probably have a giant storage room and fridge/freezer and don’t mind if they make too much because they can just store it for another day. I’m just picturing big mass prepared meats/tortillas etc waiting to go. Like burgers kept in a warmer waiting for an order. Quantity over quality.
Anyway, my order tonight confirmed my suspicion because my tortillas were so old they were like rock hard. Just like it was some nasty old taco or quesadilla that they reheated (poorly at that). I must’ve been to their food truck a hundred times and never once encountered that before. I’m sensitive to old food (histamines) and it’s certainly stirred my stomach the wrong way.
The other issue is something that happens when you cook too big a batch of food, the seasoning is just off. The meat flavor compared to the truck is not comparable. It tastes far too salty and just overall meh.
They are still finding their place and I imagine it’s hard to adjust going from a food truck to a restaurant but for now I’m going to stick to the truck. I’ll try again in a year and see if they’ve improved.
If you’ve never been to the truck before you might enjoy it here. It’s “ok” when they don’t serve up old rock hard tortillas, but that’s all it is - just ok. If you like good Mexican food then go down the road to their food truck on...
Read moreI've been aware of this little restaurant for a while, and I always wanted to stop, but the timing was never right. Today - the timing was right. This is a small restaurant on the corner of a building off of Dorsey Rd. If you weren't looking, you'd miss it.
The interior is creatively designed with an amazing painting on the wall. I was immediately greeted and seated. I got a Coke Zero, which is served in a cold can, and a Torta Cubana, which I think is their take on a Cuban sandwich. When it arrived it was super hot, but it was amazing. It tasted so good. I only ate half of the sandwich so I have dinner for tomorrow, too! It came with crinkle cut fries.
The wait staff was super friendly and engaging in conversation. I was by myself.

Read moreThis morning, June 3, 2023, the wife and I were craving a breakfast burrito. We drove out to Taqueria Los Jarochos.
We should have been warned by the fact there wasn't a single customer in the store.
We asked for a burrito with egg, chorizo, beans, and potato. What came out 15 minutes later (we were the only people in the place) was two massive burritos that indicated a language barrier.
We both gave our respective burrito a try. Mine was cold. 15 minutes and $25 for a cold burrito. What you see is exactly what we left on the table as we left.
The only positive I have to say is the Hibiscus...
