I recently visited Babes and Boys, looking forward to supporting a local Maryland establishment and enjoying a relaxed evening. Unfortunately, within just 20 minutes, I was approached by a waitress who informed me that my attire (casual jeans and a tank top—typical summer wear) was inappropriate. She then presented me with a shirt, indicating I'd need to put it on or leave the restaurant.
Interestingly, their website mentions absolutely nothing about a dress code, nor was there any clearly visible signage upon entering. Even after thoroughly checking their site afterward, no dress policy is posted anywhere. This left me feeling singled out, particularly since other customers present were dressed similarly relaxed. There was a fair crew of nice people and friendly staff who actually introduced themselves and asked me my name. After looking at the menu, I asked if the burgers were as good as the reviews indicated. Boy did the waitress get excited! She proudly told me about how their burgers are never frozen and pattied fresh daily. I ordered one and I'm here to tell you, THAT is how burgers should be made! I will definitely be going back to Babes Boys Tavern probably at least weekly for the foreseeable future, and probably going to bring friends. If you like the no-frills local tavern scene, I highly...
Read moreGreat hometown bar, you would easily drive right past. This place is off the beaten path, looks a bit sketchy, and by no means looks like a great place. Lunchtime cops pile in there .... pay attention where the cops eat... they always know what's good, I mean, look how many have the girth of Santa Clause. Bottom line... this place sets the standard for what a hometown dive bar should be. ...
