First of all I’d like to say all of the staff except for Sheila were absolutely amazing. We went there today to look at this beautiful winery to potentially host for my wedding. When we asked about events, my mother was “greeted” by Sheila. Sheila immediately rude and handed my mom a piece of scrap paper with a hand written email address telling her that we couldn’t see anything and if we wanted to we had to talk to the event coordinator. (Who wasn't at that time). She was very rude and unapologetic from the get-go. She was so rude to-the point that bartender and other staff members apologize for her behavior and told us we were more than OK to walk the on the premises just to look around. However, when we tried to just walk around to look, we were repeatedly met with a unwelcoming Sheila. She was rude the entire process we were there.

At one point, we were even approached by staff asking if we had questions about events and they were more than happy to help us. At which point, one of the very nice waitresses, who had gotten permission by the head chef to show us the bridal suite. When we went downstairs Sheila immediately stopped us from coming in. She was extremely rude rash, and almost defiant and upset that we were down there and told us we couldn’t be in the bridal suite which caused a confrontation between my mother and a bridesmaid.

Full disclosure, i work in the bridal industry and by far this is probably one of the worst interactions I’ve ever come upon. I’ve had multiple friends tell me to check this place out because the new owners are amazing but I’m sorry but Sheila has definitely left a really bad taste in our mouth‘s.

When you have people that are looking to spend thousands of dollars at your establishment you would think they would be way more kind. I don’t know if Sheila was having a bad day, or if she is socially but she should not be someone working a front of the house situation. While I understand that she is related to the owners, maybe she should just be back at the house and not have any interactions with people because in the wedding industry or even winery industry everything with her was completely unprofessional and downright rude.

Again, this one star rating that I wish you could be zero stars is only because of Sheila and I would like to say entire staff especially Nathan, Danielle and the bartender were absolutely amazing and nice and understanding. It was almost like an elephant in the room that was Sheila and the staff seem to just wanting to make up for how terrible Sheila was to us.

It seems that she causes the entire establishment a lot of stress. On the patron and on the staff. (I was even told that there’s been quite the turnover since she has been there).

I really wanted my wedding to be there and it was my top place to go but now I don’t think that’s going to happen after today. 💔

If the owners would like to contact me I am more than happy to have a conversation about what happen today and possibly solutions. Thanks...

This place is beautiful. I would never recommend this place for a wedding reception. Very rude unprofessional unpleasant place I've ever been a part of. My nephew got married there and had their reception there as well. Big reception. Had bartenders there that had no clue what they were doing. Family had to take care of the keg of beer they had because they couldn't even tap correctly. Also a hour wait in line to get drinks because the gentleman behind the bar had no clue. You could tell the young lady helping him was frustrated. Then the manager/ owner had the nerve to tell my brother you get what you pay for. She was rude unprofessional and should get out of this business if she can't handle it. Food was awful. Got a piece of chicken the size of a half dollar l asked if my Dad could have another piece the server said no not until the whole party was served. So you had over 200 folks there and it's your responsibility to have enough for everyone. The gentleman serving green beans actually took beans off my plate apparently he gave to many. Thankful they tasted like wax. No consistency on their drink prices. If you want a beautiful reception l do not recommend this place. Awful!!! I find it funny all the folks that gave this place a review that wasn't good they commented back how it was there fault and not there's. Everyone was at fault but you. Hilarious and unprofessional how childish your comments are to paying patrons. I am hoping the wedding party and the folks attending give this establishment the awful rating they deserve.

Edit: what's scary is your response started with HERE WE GO. in response to your comments is not accurate and you know it l was there for the whole thing and witnessed your rudeness and l don't give a care attitude. But of course with every unhappy patron your not at fault. The wedding party were awesome. Sad to see that you couldn't admit that you were not equipped with knowledgeable staff. The service was subpar. The young servers were delightful. You my dear are rude and unprofessional. Your bartenders the young lady was clearing frustrated with the gentleman who was helping her he had no clue. So please take some blame your denial is some what shocking. You need a new profession. As for the venue again very beautiful but you soured it by your actions quit blaming others for your ineptness to do your job. I'm pretty sure you got paid a pretty penny as well. So who...

I have wanted to check this place out for a while since I moved to a nearby town. I've been a bit hesitant as the response from the owner regarding low reviews online from patrons is concerning.

There seems to be a trend regarding "low staffing" and continual bad service. As a business owner myself I'm appalled by the retorts from the owner double downing on what appears to be a constant mismanaged establishment. There's zero accountability from the owner in all of the responses to any negative review. This speaks volumes.

I also read the owners response to some of the negative reviews like the customer is part of another group or accusing the customer of one thing or another. I understand that some customers can be difficult, especially when alcohol is involved, but it's very narcissistic to not take any responsibility then deflect the situation by slandering the customer on almost every bad review.

I finally decided to come for an event that was posted online. I assure you I am not part of any prior party or prior customer as I am new to the area and have no family in the area. I thought surely the management would be prepared for such a large gathering and have enough staffing if they were advertising this event....I was wrong.

When I first arrived (15 minutes before the event started) I saw a two sided bar with open tables up front in the entrance. I went to order a drink and was informed that the bartender would not serve the 2nd side of the bar & entrance area (where the only open tables were).

I was told I had to walk around a wall to the other side (where there was a line & all tables to view the band was full). Unfortunately, the entrance had no view of the band at all and was confirmed that there was no service to customers on that half of the establishment.🤷‍♀️ There simply was not enough staffing for this event (2 bartenders and no waitresses for a busy event).

I read a review (when coming on here to post mine) where someone else had the exact same experience on the same day I did. The owner ( in their usual fashion) responded by deflecting and ranted about great they were. They said they had another event that same day where fun was had by many (totally dismissing that customers experience). The owner actually went on to recommend to not come in when they have...

Magnificent view, great wine, solid service and good food. They had live music on Sunday afternoon, and we had a tremendous time just relaxing and soaking in the atmosphere. Really good selection of wines, including some unique sweeter wines made from blueberries, blackberries, apples and strawberries (not too sweet—truly delicious). They also have some real good dry wines as well from interesting varietals (Vidal blanc, Chardonel, Seyval, Chambourcin). Ignore the bad reviews and see for yourself—seems like some huge groups that arrived without a reservation were disappointed with not getting the very best service when the winery wasn’t ready for a huge group with no notice. It’s a fantastic midwestern winery, not a Michelin star restaurant... have appropriate expectations. Go for a wonderful relaxing time, and enjoy this local treasure for all it has to offer. We absolutely loved it and we’ll be back.

Edit: I wasn’t expecting a refund. We did eat about half the board (which was only salami and grapes for 22 bucks) It was more about the interaction w management. We have been here in the past but this was the worst interaction. We live close but do not plan to come back. If you think your going to a winery for the experience..don’t go here! Went to the winery on a Sunday afternoon. Purchased two bottles of wine and a charcuterie board. What we got was a small plate of greasy salami, some grapes, 6 pieces of bread and Brie cheese that was warm and melting when we got it. We got this same thing a few months ago and it was amazing. Now for 22.00 it’s a joke. When I told the manager that I was disappointed in the board she was not helpful to say the least. She told me they didn’t have the boards in the past and I was wrong even though this pic is what we got a few months ago. What a joke

The winery was extremely beautiful and the staff was great! I don’t understand the high volume of negative reviews. My family and I had a wonderful experience during the wine tasting, and the lovely woman was very knowledgeable about the wine. She clearly pours all her passion into the winemaking process. We sat down next to the fireplace and had our charcuterie board, which was delicious. I find it amazing how the winery works with the community to supply their amazing products. Left with two bottles of wine which was so good and reasonably priced. Can’t wait to go again in the summer/spring to take in the beauty of the winery ❤️ thank you Bella Vista winery!
