A cozy diner that dishes good, affordable home-cookin' with a heaping side of charm is a cherished but vanishing staple of American life. And hey, if they just happen to toss in a steady, chill dollop of Fifties classics from SeriusFX, well then, let's have at it! Full disclosure: my wife and I will seek out such mythic destinations; and Pandolfi's Matapoisett Diner, an easy 5 minute trek off Route 195, is so worth it. (If that's a cliche, in this case, it's really true.) Stepping in recently just after lunch hour, my wife and I sensed we were stepping into a simpler, kinder world, one of manners and quality and value. Our server, Sherri, was most hospitable, too - even when we asked to add sausage and split a Veggie Omelette. Here, they even offer the elusive shredded potatoes, which with added sauteed onions and Rye toast, is a late game grand slam. Meanwhile, the coffee was flowing like a Texas geyser: smooth and piping - only better tastin'. So pardners, when you get a hankerin', don't hesitate. Come a-callin' to this good ole diner in one real quaint town.
