Julie’s Mattoon Saloon & Downtown Diner — Restaurant in Mattoon

Last night was my first experience in this new establishment. Im no stranger to Ms. Julie Graham, and have been going to the Hideaway & Cafe in Tigerton for years....ALWAYS with Superb satisfaction! So thats why my expectations of this new location were so high, and they were met Above and Beyond!!! Thank you to employees Jenny and Jackie for welcoming me and making me feel like part of the expansive Julie family n friendbase in this NEW location. The food is excellent and priced well below many others in this general area. The service is top notch with employees that are atrentive, personable and very outgoing. The wait time for food was extremely fast, maybe 5 minutes? And the atmosphere is down home country vibe with great customer base. I will be continuing to visit this establishment NOW that I have just recently moved to the BIG...

Personally, the owner is very rude and unprofessional i won't get into much detail but she seems to bring her personal life and emotions and gossip and drama into her business, And makes it everyone else's business Treats her locals like crap something you would not expect from a bar that is only hanging on because of its locals to begin with, food was also not the greatest could have been the cook but campsight bar is and will always be the place to go if you want cheaper prices and better food and portion sizes, take a drive south about 8 miles,

I highly do not recommend to anyone looking to have a relaxing night out or even afternoon or...

I visit from Texas to see friends a few times a year. Julie remembers my order (Meat Lovers skillet with a side of bacon), and she is ALWAYS so friendly.

She's the cook, the waitress and the cashier for the entire place, and I've only ever seen her provide excellent service.

The food here is AMAZING. You can tell Julie is very passionate about what she serves. This was my first exposure to Neuske's Bacon, and let me tell you, nothing back home in Texas compares.

Julie's is fantastic, and I will most certainly be back every time...
