Oddly outside of the excellent ice cream and flavors (my parents owned a super premium ice cream shop for 15+ years downtown amherst, ma so I can vouch for quality as a primary ingestor for all those years better than most). I can not say I have tried every ice cream place in the state but have tried many if not most of the highest recommended, I like their flavors significantly better than ben and jerrys, j.p licks, kimballs in strength and fattiness, I think certain if not many flavors edge out my parents in strength though maybe a little less in some flavor creativeness (family is out of the ice cream business so can be honest) especially their peppermint highly recommended and I would put them in competitive line as a tie to be my favorite with with herrells if I was going to actually taste test and compare and at this level it is all nit picking so they are tied with the best of the best I have had, I like their environment better than the typical sit down ice cream store as well. So overall if I could give them 10/5 stars I would as I am one of the pickiest ice cream eaters. Odd thing I noticed is they are the only place that seems to advertise prices where tax seems to be included that I have see within this country outside of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife's been coming here her whole life, but I grew up in a Kimball's household, and was only recently introduced to Erikson's. It doesn't have all the commercialization and side activities that Kimball's has added over the past 20 years or so--there's no mini golf, driving range, bumper boats, petting zoo, or gift shop here--but that's probably a good thing. This no-frills ice cream stand (they just started taking credit cards this season) is a local favorite, but small enough that even on a busy night, you're not waiting in line forever. And the reward is always worth the wait, as their ice cream is excellent, and they usually have 30 or so flavors to chose from, including your typical staples and some more unique offerings like Graham Central Station, which is my wife's favorite. Definitely worth a post-dinner stop with the family, or if you happen to find yourself in the area on a warm...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreErickson's is a staple if you visit Maynard in the summer time. I don't live there now but i grew up in Maynard and I only get to go to Erikson's once or twice during the summer now. My go-to is there cotton candy ice cream and a pint for $13 you can't go wrong with homemade ice cream. I've never been able to find a place that can get the greatest cotton candy flavor in an ice cream as Erickson's does. Recently I went and I got their banana ice cream with a strawberry topping and by no surprise it was phenomenal. I also got a sample of their apple cinnamon ice cream which will be my next purchase before they close for the season. And they have like 10 windows so even if there's a lot of people there you don't have to wait long at all. The staff is super friendly and helpful it's definitely a great place for a first job. Great place so if you're in the area make sure...
