I’m not from Maysville, I live about an hour and a half away but was in town to pick something up. Before coming down I looked up restaurants near where I would be going because I knew I’d be hungry after the drive and I’d also never been to Maysville before so I wanted to try something local while I was down there. There were a lot of options to choose from that I’d never heard of before, but M’s stood out to me more than the rest. After reading a few reviews and seeing all the pictures of their food I knew I had to stop here while I was in town.
My friend and I sat down to eat around 4:40 and there wasn’t anyone else at the restaurant so we had our pick of where to sit. It’s a smaller restaurant only 7-8 tables and two of them only seat two people, but I liked the vibe of it and the decorations were beautiful. The whole place is kind of rustic but in a modern way and has a ton of cool little features. We were helped immediately and both ordered a sweet tea which was delicious and decided to also get fried pickles with jalapeño ranch as an appetizer.
The fried pickles came in a small size and a large; we ordered the small and it was more than enough for the both of us. We both agree that these were the best fried pickles we’ve ever had. They’re a little bit thicker than ones you get from other restaurants, but we appreciate that because you get more of the pickle taste and it’s easier to take a bite out of it compared got the thinner ones where if you try to take a bite, usually the whole pickle comes out of the breading. The outside of the pickle was also amazing, perfect texture, and fully covered the pickle which some places aren’t so good at. The jalapeño ranch was also very delicious.
It felt like there was so much to choose from on the menu even though it wasn’t super extensive or overwhelming, everything just sounded so good. I ended up ordering the Asiago chicken pasta and a side berry salad while my friend ordered the honey whiskey burger with a side of twister fries.
I was so close to buying the full size berry berry salad along with another entrée but then I saw they offered it as a side and decided to do that instead which was definitely the right idea. When I received my salad I wasn’t convinced that I hadn’t accidentally ordered the full size salad because the portion was very big for a side salad (but I’m not complaining). The salad itself was delicious and reminded me of the ones I make at home, just maybe a little more refined. The pasta was also delicious and came out in a really unique bowl and also two slices of garlic bread which was nice. I was so full after my salad and the fried pickles that I could only take a few bites before calling it quits, but the bites that I did take were very good. I heard that I got the last bit of pasta for the night because they had sold out of it, so it must be very popular (and for good reason!).
My friend allowed me to taste his burger and fries and they were also 10/10’s. With every bite of his burger, he had a cheese pull which is not something I’ve ever seen before from a burger but I’d definitely like to see more. With saying that, the burger was not super cheesy, so don’t be turned away from it if you don’t like that, it was just the perfect amount of cheese. I could only take one bite as I was so full from everything else I had eaten but that one bite was full of so much flavor. They didn’t skimp out on the bacon or onions or any of the flavors. I definitely got the honey flavor in the one bite I took. The fries were probably my favorite twister fries I’ve ever had. A popular chain by me has twister fries and they aren’t nearly as good as the ones at M’s. I prefer fries with a crispy outer layer and these fries were just perfect. Whether I used ketchup or the jalapeño ranch or even just ate them plain, they were delicious.
TLDR: amazing food, amazing atmosphere, amazing service, amazing prices. Definitely stop by!
Con: some prices on the menu were a little less than what we were actually charged for but it didn’t make that much of...
Read moreI'd call our lunch at M's Eatery part of my surprise Christmas gift. I will certainly remember it that way in years to come!
My husband and I enjoyed a superb lunch on Saturday afternoon. Just before M's closed. We came over the river from Adams Co, in Ohio to do some Christmas shopping. We love sharing a nice meal. Tasting new foods, eyeing different atmospheres-an experience! M's was one of the best restaurant experiences we had all year. If I had put more planning into this quick lunch. I may just have missed the opportunity.
I follow M's along with several others I'd like to try as a sort of "wish" restaurant list. Maysville has no shortages of great food. I had a friend local suggest M's earlier in the week & saw they had a donut burger special. I shared the exciting news with my husband and off we went! If I had paused to look at price points, closing times, etc as I typically would-we would have missed out, on an incredible lunch!
The flavors in everything were magnificent and so very fresh. The strawberry salad was phenomenal. The flavor-perfect. I had raspberry vinegarette in college 03'. It took me right back. That is how you know it's good. The dressing causes memory association with the last time I had something similarly divine! The donut burger was hard to get away from my husband. We savored every bite. The chicken wrap had a perfect amount of heat.
The staff was so kind, and attentive. The place cleared out as we came in. 30 minutes until close. They greeted us with smiles. The structure is beautiful inside. The decor they have for Christmas is gorgeous. Elegant but comfy, and cozy. I adored it. Price? My goodness, a value meal may have been $1 cheaper. By the time we paid, we were already singing the praises of the chef and staff for a great meal. We were sent home two desserts that we had our fingers in before we got back across the river-WOW! This review is long but very much deserved.
I plan, overthink, overly worry. Especially around Christmas. I'm so glad we just WENT! This 40-something wife and Mom of two sons felt special for a bit. Like a million bucks, in sweatpants 😉 I wouldn't mind this becoming a Christmas tradition of mine but I won't...
Read moreThe food was absolutely delicious! My husband and I walked in and the sweet waitress must have seen the panic on my face when I asked for a bathroom because she was very kind to point it out for me. Walking in, we were awed by the look of the building and amused by the decor. I told my husband I felt like I was in an old pub or something similar. I love the aesthetic! Definitely could consider it quaint. Our waitress was extremely nice and patient with us as we took forever to finally pick what we wanted to eat, everything sounded so good. We ended up getting the sticky wings with Chipotle and brown sugar BBQ - they were amazing, just the right amount of crisp and juicy. You get 8 wings and they're bone-in. My husband ordered the Lil Boy and a side of the loaded twisted fries. He enjoyed his burger, though he wished it had more seasoning, and the loaded fries were so good! I got the chicken salad BLT wrap, but asked for crispy chicken. It was scrumptious and literally packed plum full of goodness! I kept the chips as my side, they looked like they were house made; they reminded me of kettle chips and were pretty good also. I wish my wrap had some kind of condiment on it, whether it be mayo or ranch or even BBQ, but I hadn't realized it didn't come with any. Overall, my husband and I absolutely loved it! The waitress mentioned blueberry cobbler and banana pudding as their daily desert, but I couldn't even eat all of my wrap, but it definitely sounded amazing. We will be returning, because this was too good to not...
