We stopped in after attending a funeral and even though we were "over dressed" for what many would consider a "hole in the wall" restaurant, we didn't feel awkward or out of place. In fact, we were warmly greeted and had drinks within a couple of minutes after selecting a booth. Speaking of drinks, most places these days serve sweet tea that's so sweet, you have to ask for half sweet & half unsweetened but their sweet tea is just right. We started out with fried pickles, which were very tasty and not too salty like many other restaurants do; plus they didn't skimp on the ranch dressing either. I ordered a hamburger and while there were no fancy frills to it, the bun was large, perfectly toasted & buttered and the lettuce, onions and tomatoes were very fresh and the meat was not greasy. My fiancé ordered a bacon cheeseburger and he was a bit surprised when the bacon was cooked perfectly - neither too crisp nor too chewy. His side order was potato salad and let me tell you, we are very picky about potato salad. In fact, if it's not MY potato salad, he usually doesn't like it but we all really enjoyed it. Our sis ordered the pork chop with butter beans & rice and she loved it, although she wanted a bit of tobasco (or some other pepper sauce for her beans), but apparently she was dropped on her head as a child because "normal" people don't use that stuff on butter beans. Our brother-in-law ordered the beef tips, potato salad & fried okra and he (and his brain damaged woman) were very impressed. Thank you for such a great meal, friendly & prompt service and I hope that the next time we are in the area we will get to try more wonderful food. Just a side note, it is cash only and make sure to...
Read moreThe vibe was very "middle of nowhere" (which it was, so no fault there) it did feel homey tho. Cook was chatting up with a couple eating (she wasn't cooking anything at the moment so it's not like she wasn't doing her job, it was down time, I wanna make that clear) Asked the server about one of the meals and she didn't know what was in it, and made no effort to find out. We ordered I think loaded chicken fries and a mushroom burger. The bun was really good. The patty was alright, mushrooms were okay, American cheese, and what tasted like straight Salisbury sauce. I had to eat it with a fork. Chicken fries were, rather subpar if I'm honest. Now I gotta give a bit of credit - it is literally a small town country diner type. So I'm assuming food cost is managed by frozen stock, not always a bad thing. The staff was nice overall, but it seems more of a "what's left in the pantry let's make a meal" vs...
Read moreThe food is delicious I had the grilled shrimp. The service was excellent considering there was only the owner and no help. She cooked and served and never missed a beat. If your in the area I would definitely recommend you stop in...
