The Ugly Fish Baking Company. A random coffee, ice cream ,gift shop in the middle of nowhere . It was a really neat place . If you’re in the area be sure to stop. #yoop #yooper #yooperlite #up #upperpeninsulamichigan #upperpeninsula #fypシ

The Uglyfish Baking Company is a hidden gem on CR-407. It's run out of an airstream and has delicious baked goods, ice cream, food, fun merchandise and even a resident author! We come to Muskallonge Lake every summer and this place is a welcome addition. I love to take a loaf of sourdough or the jalapeno cheese onion buns back to the lake house to supplement meals. Also the cookies, muffins etc. are excellent. The monster cookies and the pumpkin chocolate chip are my favorite. My husband loves the giant blueberry muffins. It's made from scratch homemade goodness!

You absolutely need to make a stop here! It’s not every day you find yourself in the middle of nowhere and stumble upon a hidden gem like this. The Uglyfish Baking Co. is packed with charm and has so much to offer—whether you’re on the hunt for a unique gift, craving a sweet treat, need a loaf of freshly baked bread, or just want something to wet your whistle. The service is quick, and the staff are genuinely friendly, which makes the experience even better. If you’re anywhere near the area, do yourself a favor and check this place out—you won’t regret it!

If you're traveling in the U.P. and you find yourself in between Grand Marais and Crisp Point, I suggest checking out The Uglyfish Baking Co., outside of Newberry near Deer Park. Their hospitality is unmatched. Their baked goods are delicious. They will go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied. I had my real first genuine old school recipe pasty, with rutebaga. Mmmmmm. So good. I asked for gravy, but was told if it needs gravy, it's not a good pasty. However, ketchup is OK. They will give you a sizable cup if you need/want it. You DO HAVE to give them a heads up on FB messenger if you want to order one. They take an hour to bake, but if you want a frozen one - come and get it. They have a bunch of other baked goods and a sausage cart, and DR. PEPPER IN A BOTTLE (no corn syrup - real sugar). You really should plot this in your GPS and go see them. It's a roadside stop on a highway and you could miss them. Such fine and kind people. They're also...

My story is like many others, we stumbled upon a this place while wandering around the U.P. after our GPS got us lost. Damp, hungry and in need of caffeine the sign was like an oasis appearing out of the forest. I was pretty impressed by the selection and was surprised to see several vegetarian options on the menu. My partner was relieved to see coffee options other than drip. Our food was flavorful and fresh and the coffee strong. We got cookies to go and realized we should have gotten at least a dozen. I’ve never had a cookie quite like the frosted root beer. Thank you Uglyfish for the...
