I don't want to write this review, but as it's a newer establishment, I think it's important for people to know about the poor service my family and I received. We went 2 nights ago, and I can't stop thinking about how unhappy we all left, and how unhappy I still am about our first experience here.
From the hostess to the server to the manager-- the service was extremely underwhelming.
The entrance is not intuitive. My in-laws were wandering around trying to figure out where to go while we parked the car. Once the hostess finally returned, she nearly yelled at them for not waiting by the host stand. We were seated next to the bathrooms for our reservation. We expressed our disappointment but were not allowed to wait for a table to be cleaned in the main dining room. (As first timers, we wanted to peek at the main room to just look at it, where we saw a table that could have accommodated us.)
The kettle chip 'appetizer' was a small plate of 8 chips for our party of four. When we asked our server for more, she bluntly said, "I'll have to charge you" - which is understandable, but came out pretty unfriendly. Sadly, we found her lacking overall in friendliness and accomodation. Perhaps she had a bad day, or some personal issues going on, but it really was not a warm first experience dining at this restaurant.
Our raw oysters appetizer turned out delicious, although the cocktail sauce was interesting, a bit light on horseradish flavor.
Upon ordering the "wagyu smash burger," my husband inquired if anything else came on the burger besides what was listed. (Like lettuce, tomato, raw onion, mayo, etc) But the server said "no sir, just what is listed," so he was thrilled! However, he received a burger with dill pickles on it (which he cannot eat). It was also nothing like a smash burger, in fact the two patties were quite thick and not smashed at all. Thankfully the burger was removed from the bill, but we never received an apology for the misinformation, so beware what you order!
The manager did come over to try and not let my husband leave hungry, but his appetite was gone and was completely turned off by the cold, unwelcoming atmosphere we were given. The culmination of strike out after strike out at this place left a sour taste in all of our mouths, and thus we all left unhappy.
I will state that my filet mignon was tasty, in fact I enjoyed my entire plate- including the homemade mashed potatoes and roasted vegetable medley. I truly believe this place has wonderful food, but I wish ANY of the service had been wonderful. I hope one day the FOH can soon match the quality of the BOH at this local establishment that could have so much potential.
Not 1 star because the food was good. But at the prices we paid, we expect exceptional...
Read moreWe have been here twice now and overall are definitely excited to have this restaurant in Brevard! The menu is very seafood forward, but still has a few good chicken and beef options. Both times weâve visited we had Nathan as our server. Heâs very funny and does a great job. We went on two very busy nights, but we were overall happy with our service. The food has been mixed but mostly good both times. Weâve absolutely loved the cornbread crab cakes and the oysters as well. The focaccia bread they give is a bit dry and very cold, but still okay. The herb butter it comes with is good too, but overall we were hoping for an âomg this is sooo good!â bread experience. If it werenât included we wouldnât order it. We also ordered the breads and spreads our first time and those breads were also very cold, but the spreads we remember liking. Weâve also tried the empanadas which were underwhelming. The beef on the inside was a pulled texture which made it so awkward to take bites of. You would take a bite of the empanada and have to pull out a long stringy piece of beef. There were a few pieces of gristly fat as well. We personally didnât like the flavor either, the capers and olives were overpowering. For main courses weâve had the burger, the ribeye, the cesar with salmon salad and another salad (I wanna say the seasonal). The burger was great, my husband loved it. The ribeye was also great. The cesar was just okay it felt bland despite being a homemade dressing, but the salmon on top was good. Croutons stole the show lol. The other salad was so good I wish I could find the name. For desserts we have the chocolate one and the seasonal crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e which was raspberry. The chocolate one was extremely good. I was expecting it to be too much, but damn it hit the spot lol. Fudgy texture with some crunch! The crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e had a very dense texture that I didnât love. The raspberry filling was inside on the bottom. It was pretty good but wouldnât order again. The special was sold out both times we dined and they were sold out of their mineral water and one of the desserts we wanted. Neither of us got drinks either time but the selection looked good and they even had THC cocktails which I am excited to try when not pregnant lol. Somehow did not get photos, but the patio is really nice and the bathrooms were very clean and well designed. We will be back and hope to see this place really grow into a 5-star experience. Oh and the silky napkins are definitely just meant to be decorative they donât even soak up water LOL they need to just get regular napkins. The staff wears shorts⊠itâs not that...
Read moreSecond visit here. Had the Wagu Smash Burger. This is one of the best burgers I've ever had! Only a very close 2nd to Gordon Ramsay Burger in Vegas. Staff was friendly and attentive. Mgr/owner stopped by to check in. All was great!
My only suggestion is to add a side to the burger (although it is filling). Maybe a truffle fries or something. The mac&cheese I added was great though.
Also enjoyed the local craft beers on draft.
I highly recommend for a nice dinner! PS: Thanks to the staff and to the engagement with my review from the management. That always impresses me and shows you really care about your place!
This a quaint little venue on the river. The feel is very cottage which is cute and romantic. Doesn't really have the "upscale/ fine dining" feel (the runners are in baseball caps and shorts, dishes mismatched, cheap cutlery) but the food makes up for it. We were seated inside even though I reserved for outside-not a big deal since it super hot outside today; plus the chairs inside are cushioned and comfortable.
We were served complementary house-made kettle chips with - butter? I've never dipped a chip in butter before but they were good. We had the empanadas for the appetizer - crispy and hot with very savory cheese/pork filling.
I had the coffee-brown sugar salmon. The salmon was a little salty but well-cooked and the coffee crust wasn't overpowering; nicely done. The gruyere grits were flavorful but swimming in butter (kind made my tummy hurt). Banana parfait for desert was really yummy.
Service was okay. Took a while to fill my water (one fill up). Most restaurants at this price has a dedicated person filling water. She said they "didn't have a desert menu" but had it written down on a flip out notebook (didn't want to go get a menu, or didn't anticipate the need?). Either way we had to ask for the desert list/menu. I'm not generally super picky but for $35 a plate, I have a little higher standards of service. In all, I would recommend for a nice meal but some refining needs done to live up to the $$$.
PS: Witnessed manager (red-flowered Hawaiian shirt) being snippy with an (admittedly sassy) customer as we were walking up to the stand (didn't even acknowledge us) and later simply pointing in the direction of the bathroom to another customer. Also kudos to the food runners who have to balance hot plates of food on the outside banister, then open the door to the dining room with their foot! Get an automatic door for...
