I've only ordered and eaten here once. So far, the food is mid. Service is okay, other than the comment from the owner about us "just coming in to eat and not work [for her]". Granted, we spent $50 on our first purchase and we've never been employed by the owner. Shortly, after I have found the owner has withheld one of her employees well-earned money from them without a valid or legal excuse. Up until current. The employee in which I'm speaking of happens to be a family-friend. Not to mention when there was an interest of being employed, it was brought to my attention from other applicants and said employee that they don't pay fair wages. The owners overall attitude on business could change and thus would change the feel of the company. Specifically business with people she knows. Thank you! 😊
Edit: Response to owner's comment: Considering that the employee that I am speaking about was also in close relations to you, I think it would be more morally aligned for you to approach that issue with that person than I. Considering you have points of contact and information readily available. The main intent of including that 'allegation' in my review was to help potential appliers make a wise and informed decision. It's seemingly shady behind this business. The allegations didn't come from thin-air, darling. Since we're reading characters here, it's despicable seeing an owner not only reject and have a distasteful attitude towards every one of its consumers when given honest feedback, which surely doesn't create the necessary room for the company's growth but to also behave disrespectfully, tacky and low-down in the way that they have with the folks who've come to help her. I think behaving that way a an owner is worse than me telling it. So, I suggest that you sort out what you need to sort out with the people you need to sort it out with. I'm sure you know who they are. Have a nice day, Ms....
Read moreIn town from Lake County Illinois to visit a family member and while obsessively searching for restaurants to check out, Chicago's House of Hoagies popped up. Love me a good sammich. I ordered the Block 13 minus hot girdinara because I'm lame. I also ordered regular fries, a can of Sprite and the walking banana pudding for dessert. The hoagie was one bite after another of delicious sloppy goodness and the bread magically held together until the last messy bite. My hands and face were covered in delicious drippy hoagie sauce and mayo. I made the mistake of not taking a before picture, but once you pick up your hoagie, you can't put it down. The hot crispy fries were perfectly seasoned with more pepper and less salt. I couldn't stop eating them. The can of Sprite was especially delicious on the scorching hot day. Get the walking banana pudding! Full of healthy potassium and sooooo friggin' good. I wish nothing but the best for this establishment and maybe another location...in Waukegan...
Read moreFirst time visiting this restaurant, nice little store front with a welcoming appeal. Walked in and was greeted with a warm genuine welcome and handed our menus. The menu is so inviting you want to order just about everything on the menu. The hoagies we ordered were so amazing, best I have had thus far. Their menu is kid friendly as well so children can enjoy a wonderful meal. My son is a french fry connoisseur and he said their fries are the best he has ever had. Huge compliment because he rarely gives his opinion. The owner/chef and person who greeted us and took our order were the nicest, they stood and had a wonderful conversation with us about the area and the establishments in the neighborhood. Sadly I did not catch their names and I wish I would have. I definitely plan to sample every entry on their menu in the near future. I highly recommend the food, the atmosphere and the service, they deserve higher than a 5; if there were 10 ⭐'s to rate id...
