I remember eating here with my grandmother in the late '90s. I had forgotten the name of the restaurant and where it was located, she always just said that place down by the river. Someone mentioned it in a thread on Facebook, and I looked it up and realized it was probably the same restaurant. So when my husband and I, both of whom had worked very hard all day Saturday, decided we were going to find food prepared by someone else, I suggested trying Bob's. He was skeptical, because we had tried a few other places that were mediocre at best, but said go ahead. So I ordered an advance, and drove the short distance from my home in Duncan to Bob's Landmark Restaurant.
When I walked in I was overwhelmed by nostalgia, and felt a warm happy feeling, remembering family time spent eating and talking and laughing there. My food was ready, and the young woman who had taken my order brought it out and gave it to me. She was quite pleasant, and they weren't packed but there were at least 10 vehicles in the parking lot.
When I got home and brought the food in, my husband followed the scent to the kitchen. He said that sure smells good. We had ordered small orders of fried catfish, and each order was large. He had a side of fries and of coleslaw, and I had requested a baked potato because of food sensitivities, and they were happy to oblige. We sat down to eat and neither of us spoke for a few moments. Then we looked at each other and smiled. It was one of the best meals we've had prepared at a restaurant in Stephens County. Now I want to try their chicken fried steak, and their steak. We've not found a place that can make steak as well as we can locally, so I have high hopes. They have quite a selection of meals and sides, it's a family friendly establishment, and the quality of the food and the service was...
Read moreWe walk in and everything looks extremely nice and is very clean. Glancing at the menu I feel that the pricing seems a little high for some items but am not overly concerned. We ordered a blowout onion and fried mushrooms for an appetizer. They arrived and both were very good. From there, it all goes downhill. My daughter ordered a chef salad and what she received as an $8 salad was smaller than what a side salad that was served as part of our meal was. The boiled egg had green around the yolk, which is definitely unappealing and the salad was not appetizing in any way. A burrito plate costs $9 and consists of a fried gas station burrito topped with chili, lettuce and tomato. The ribeye is $23.50 and was cooked well but with no seasoning at all and had more than a moderate amount of fat on it to make up the 16 oz listed on the menu. The catfish was the one good thing that we ate. It tasted good but for $14 for the small plate I would have to pass on this one as well. The clincher was the steamed vegetables that were ordered as a side. They were definitely frozen and then cooked to death with absolutely no seasoning. Overall, we were unimpressed and will not return. The positive reviews are misleading and patently false. We love supporting local businesses but after the quality of food we received, we...
Read moreI was in Comanche Oklahoma for a wedding and found this jewel of a restaurant. Several locals were there having dinner when we arrived. Sadly, I forget the waitresses' name, but all of the waitresses were kind and attentive. We ordered a boritto plate with fries, the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes, and the pulled pork with coleslaw, potatoe salad, and beans. It was a taste of home cooking that goes a step further than what you would get at home. Clearly, whoever was cooking knew what they were doing. I had the grilled chicken, and it was wonderfully moist, marinated in Italian dressing and cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes were quite complimentary to the chicken as they weren't overly seasoned and were well blended. My wife and son enjoyed their food as well. I recommend you stop by and enjoy a great meal and fine service. Lastly, the meal was...
