Update 8/20/25. FYI. After moving, I just visited the renovated The Rochester to pick up six wings @$1.00 each to go. I was very disappointed to see, along with the price increases, the total was $6.30. They are now charging a "Sunland Village Golf Club RFI Fee" of 5% on every order. After reaching out to The SL Village, I was told that money does not go to Sunland Village and stays with the restaurant. I was told by the server that this was to cover the new renovations. If I recall, the renovations would be capitalized into the value of the up-fit. After over 40 years on and off in food service I have never heard of charging a fee for renovations the owners chose to make. Best wishes as we will not be back. Thank you for a good few years. Rating reduced to * * *. Previous post: It pains me to post this as we have enjoyed our neighborhood visits for years but with the new ownership things are slipping while prices are the highest. We arrived on Sunday at 8:30 with our pet and sat outside. I went in to advise we were out front on the patio and grabbed menus to be told by the server that it was going to be a while as she was by herself. We did not get service for 20 minutes until a second server arrived after we had to go in to ask for beverages. There were multiple tables inside with only one server stretched thin. Serving beverages could help with our patience for service. Raising prices during slower times without ensuring timely service for all just doesn't make sense. Food has always been good but at what cost. Update. The owner was on duty and we discussed the issues at hand which were addressed immediately. I appreciate James concern regarding the dining experience. Increased my initial rating.

The WORST experience dining in a very long time. We knew they would be busy on a Friday night so we called ahead to ask how long the wait was. We were told an hour but they could put our name on a wait list. We told them we'd be there around 6:00, a little less than an hour after we called and put our name on the wait list. We arrived a little before 6:00, waited over 15 minutes just to Chen in and were told it'd be at least another hour. WTHeck!?!?! What was the point of calling ahead? We caught a table in the bar area but our party had to be split because the table wasn't large enough. A waitress walked by, cleaned our table and said she'd be right back. Well, 20 minutes later, we flagged her down as she walked by. She'd already taken our friends' orders and they received their drinks, soup/salad. We waited another half hour+ for our food. No check-in from the waitress, no refills on drinks, nothing. After we finished eating and ready to get our check, we got a text our table was ready. 🙄 Will NEVER go back. Terribly mismanaged. Terrible communication. Not the best food, either.

We had the Friday night fish and it was excellent. Unfortunately the baked potato was cold but the excellent fish made up for it. Was a little disappointed in the hostess saying that they had a table of 15 that only one person was there. So we are placed in a room to wait. We waited for over 45 minutes and finally went out and probably got a table. Overall, I would definitely eat here again! update: Once again, the food was fantastic. The service was really slow. It took us 2 hours but it was excellent food nonetheless.

I live nearby ( within walking distance) and was never was a fan of the food at Rochesters so I haven’t been for quite sometime… but since it’s under new ownership and has been recently remodeled I thought I’d give it a try..turned out to be a bad decision. Went for the 4-6 pm happy hour & Friday night Fish Fry.. Other than the baked potato I found the entire dinner to be pretty tasteless, my partner had the “cornstarch” chowder, ugh! My garden salad was room temperature and limp, dressing was an ordinary bottle variety, tartar sauce tasted like mayonnaise, Cole slaw not much better. Frankly I wasn’t expecting much, so wasn’t terribly disappointed…. Until I got the check! There were no “ happy hour” prices (4-6 pm as listed on the website) I questioned the waitress & I was informed the hours for that had changed. The price of fish dinner on the website menu was $11.99 for 2 pieces, surprise !! that had “changed” also, new price $16.95 for a one piece dinner. Ok so I won’t go back nor will I recommend “The Rochester” I did find some humor in the evening .. when I paid the check, along with the receipt was one small piece of candy… seriously there were 2 of us, were we supposed...
