Pica's Pub and Grill — Restaurant in Methuen

Picas is a beautiful inviting place. Tonight I felt like I was on a tv show. Bar rescue or hell on wheels. The food came out super slow. If short staffed no problem. From where we were sitting we could see the staff picking at food in the back, texting on the phone and just hanging out. Two other tables next to us were waiting for their checks as their waitress walk past them and basically ignored them. I witnessed one of the bartenders chewing gum in almost a cow like fashion with her mouth open constantly. I also witnessed her take the gum out of her mouth and not washing her hands. Then she was given food for a customer and picked up the dipping sauce and rotated it. Again with fingers not washed. We were about to leave because our food took so long. Then it came. Burger was well done but ordered medium. I cut in half. After eating half of it I noticed a hair on my plate. That was the end of me eating. The waitress brought it out back and I was told it was an egg hair. My burger had an egg on it. I had thought of that but I picked it up and it did not seem like part of an egg to me. The waitress just shrugged it off even after I told her I had a picture of it. She brought is our check and I asked to see the manager. Low and behold the manager was the bartender with the gum. The manager took the burger off the bill. I can deal with short staff, maybe overcooked food. Things happen. It was the lack of respect for the customers that I was seeing. I really felt like the tv shows where you see what really happens when staff and managers don’t care. I really lost my appetite. It’s really too bad. We really liked the place and the atmosphere. I have been to Pica's three times. I have had a negative experience every time I've been there. I thought I would give them a few chances before I wrote a review since they are a newer restaurant.

The first time I went, I got the muffaletta sandwich. They forgot to toast the bread. Also, I was sitting at the bar and the service wasn't great.

The second time I went, my friend and I ordered the stuffed sandwich with the Italian sausage. The bartender told us they only had one sausage left so one of us had to change our order. It was at lunch time and it wasn't busy so I don't know why they weren't prepared. I ended up with the last sausage and it wasn't anything worth writing home about. Seemed like it might have been over cooked or sitting in a warmer pot for a while.

The third time and I think the last time I went to Pica's, my girlfriend's water had dead fruit flies in it. I order an Ipswich ale because it was on the beer list and the waitress brought back a Notch left of the dial because the "Ipswich ale had been replaced". Why wasn't the menu updated? I got the muffaletta sandwich sandwich again because I wanted for it to be good so bad. It was actually pretty good this time because they remembered to toast it. My girlfriend got the veggie burger and they forgot to put the aioli on it. The burger was really dry too. Service was really "spotty" this time as...

Decent place, fair value, pretty good service overall....., I would recommend going..., I would only suggest 2 things:

they have 5 big TV screens..., all of which are on the same channel, all the time..., and almost every afternoon..., its on a sports talk show with No volume..., so its absolutely useless.... Would be much nicer if there was at least a local or World news on channel (FOX or CNN), or some live sports, to visually see something rather than people sitting at a desk talking with no volume..., on every tv in the place.... but no one working there seems to be concerned..., or even notice......

They offer some type of points system, where you get a discount after spending $100...., I used it once about 3 months ago or more, for a little discount off bill..., I usually go there at least twice per week and bill is typically $40-50..., I tried to get points recently, and was told I didnt have any..., I use same credit card every time as they advised to track points, I have probably spent close to $500 since last used..., but the system is nt working properly obviously..., no bid deal..., but they should abandoned the system if its basically not working at...
