Took our mom there for her birthday. Itās been about 2 years since I last dined there and had good memories of the food and service. Our waitress was absolutely on point⦠she was pleasant, attentive, and always smiling. We ordered the Middleburg Sampler. It was a good variety. They were out of the first two choices my husband selected. He then decided on a Filet Mignon. When it arrived the outside was charred to a crisp, the inside was pink but very dry. He tried to make the best of it but it was sooo dry and the burnt taste from the outside overpowered the flavor of the meat. It had no seasoning so all he tasted as charred meat. When the waitress asked how everything was, I told her about the steak. She apologized and asked if we wanted another, we declined. She was eager to make it right. She said she would have it taken off our bill. The manager then came to our table and explained that they use charcoal and the flames are hotter in some places more than others so the steaks are supposed to taste that way. He said they were known for that āflavorā. I told him the steak was dry and tough. He kept explaining that if we wanted a different flavor next time weād have to request they cook it on the flat top grill. Believe me, there wonāt be a next time. He didnāt take it off our bill and his excuse was ridiculous. My asparagus and his broccoli were cold. The knives were dull. They did give my mom a slice of cheesecake for her birthday, that was nice. Had he just apologized we would have been happy, but his excuse meant weād be getting another dry steak if we return. No thank you. There was also pink insulation hanging out of the fireplace. It was probably not a fire hazard but it didnāt give me the warm and fuzzies. We wonāt be returning or referring...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGive this place a 1 star review for the following reasons: Went in at 1:40pm on a Sunday with a party of 4. Only one other table for 2 came in after us, ate and finished before we got our appetizer. Food took an hour and 10 minutes to get to our table. We ordered 3 chicken and waffles and 1 burger with home fries. Burger was ordered medium but what delivered over well done (had definitely been sitting under the heat lamps for a long time). The fried egg was more like scorched in oil. The home fries were soggy with dirty oil and shriveled up by the time they got to the table. Picture of sad burger included. I really don't want to hear cussing coming from the kitchen when we are in a quiet restaurant with my children. One of the 3 waffles were burnt. The manager (I guess?) came over to deliver one of the waffles (our meal ended up coming out in pieces over the course of about 10 minutes). He clearly saw the mess of food on our table and asked if everything came out OK. We didn't actually answer him, thought maybe he'd look at the plates and recognize that it was not ok, but no. He mentioned something about some machine being broken....???
I do have to note that: The waitress was amazing and should be working somewhere much better. Super sweet, kept drinks full, and checked on us often. The fried chicken was liked by those who ordered it. It seemed fairly clean.
We are from VA and when we first sat down and saw the menu and the charming decor, we said we'd make the trip to visit again. Definitely won't do that given the food quality and the fact it took over an hour to get food in an totally...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpon entry, the front of house manager or host (Christian, I believe was his name) confused our reservation name which delayed seating. We were made to wait, feeling unwelcome, while the rest of our party was seated and waiting. Once finally seated, our waitress was very sweet and awesome but overworked, overwhelmed and waiting on too many tables with too little support. The steak was great, the service was chaos, food was delayed, the salad bar slow to replenish, the desserts limited. My utensils and plate seemed a little dirty/not replaced with fresh ones. The cocktails were OK - my mother had to return a flat Prosecco for a fresh one after the host/manager told her āBrut is too dry. Prosecco is better with food than brutā - customerās personal preferences should be prioritized and not ridiculed by staff with poor taste. Further, my nieceās fries did not arrive until we had finished eating dinner. But I think the worst part was my motherās birthday was completely overlooked with no dessert and candle as the reservationist had promised with enthusiasm over the phone just a day prior. Iām writing this reluctantly in hopes the restaurant improves and is able to hire more staff, and hire better management or support for the staff...
