We stopped here for hot dogs the other day. The ten-inch long dogs were grilled perfectly with butter on New England style rolls. We added an order of onion rings and went outside to the picnic tables to enjoy our meal. The onion rings were greasy but the hot dogs were very enjoyable. Guida's is an old established dairy in Connecticut which is primarily known for its milk and distributed widely. Their restaurant here also offers a variety of ice cream. Customers can dine in or order take out. Service was speedy and courteous. A few years of framed tasters choice Awards on the walls show many people feel their hot dogs are the best.

My brother & I stopped in for lunch mostly because it looked pretty cool. We weren't let down either. We enjoyed a nice photo opp (pic included) with Betty Boop before eating. I had a cheeseburger & onion rings, my brother had a hotdog & fries. The food & portion sizes were good. No complaints about the staff. We enjoyed our lunch outside at a quiet picnic table because the weather was nice & it was the beginning of fall but the inside has comfortable, clean seating as well. It's a nice spot, definitely stop by if you're in the area

They make the best foot-long hot dogs. For a 13.99 combo, you get a foot long hotdog , fries and fountain drink. Toppings include chili, relish, etc. The hot dog bread is grilled and nice and toasty. The fries are fried to perfection. Chili is not very spicy but does have a kick to it and so tasty. Other combos include cheeseburger and chicken. They have counter seating. They also serve ice cream on an adjacent area. It's a small joint that gets filled up fairly quick. There is plenty of parking They are closed on Mondays.

My mom and I love their ice cream... or used to anyway. We stop here for ice cream whenever we are coming back home from a short trip for the day. It was 7:08pm when we arrived and mind you the “open” sign was still lit up bright as day. Before hand, we were trying to figure out how late they were open to see if we could stop to get some ice cream. The website says 8pm. We got there and found that the door was locked with maybe 3 or 4 tables full of people eating inside. So we decide to go ring the bell for the ice cream. After standing outside freezing for a few minutes while waiting for someone to respond. The woman walks up with 7 fingers saying “we close at 7.” She didn’t open the window or anything to say “I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but we’re closed.” She looked very pissed off too. You would think 1) if you were closed at 7 you would not let people stay or feed them if it was almost 7. 2) you wouldn’t lock the door with people inside which to me and others that you are still open 3) you wouldn’t have the website say 8pm when really it’s 7pm 4) you wouldn’t have the “open” sign still on. Wouldn’t you would think that if someone wanted to buy something from a business, you would let them in to give you money? We are very disappointed in this place. We are also disappointed at the fact that no one bothered to open the window to kindly give us an answer on when they actually closed. There are also multiple reviews about this. So it’s not just us they disappointed. Now we are going to Riches Ice Cream in Oxford. Way better ice cream and way better service. Little bit more pricey, but it’s 100% worth it. I recommend going there if you want good service and good...

I went here really wanting to like it and with high high hopes based on the previous reviews. The food was decent but not worth the price in my opinion.

The restaurant is going for a 50s feel and is slightly rundown I paid a little over $10 for a small order of fries, small soda, and a chili dog to go. It was not busy and the waitress took my order at the counter after a brief wait. It turns out it's a cash-only business so I put away my credit card and paid. Perhaps there was a sign somewhere but I didn't see it evidenced. The waitress was polite but not exactly friendly and outgoing. The short-order cook on the other hand, who was preparing the food was very friendly.

My order was prepared and for some reason the waitress decided to put a chili dog in the bag and stand up vertically so all the chilly would fall off. She handed me the bag without comment.

The chili tasted like decent quality canned chili. Not bad not great. The hot dog was slightly spicy in a way not entirely to my taste. The fries we're the best part of the meal, being perfectly done if a little under salted. The soda was not flat or over carbonated it was also good albeit small.

To wrap up it was an okay meal but nothing really to rave about. I did not think it was worth the price tag however and don't really intend on returning.

On a side note for the more politically minded who might care about these things, the owner has a big sign on the front door stating his strong opposition to the upcoming higher...

Probably the worst burger I’ve had for $12.99. I got the Rancher burger which is a single patty. For that price I expected a big burger teeming with toppings. It had no taste, barely any toppings, I couldn’t even taste the BBQ sauce which didn’t even slather the whole roll, and to top it off, it was too pink. I should have bought it back (I ate outside) because I got sick later on and that’s all I ate. It came with a small bag of fries. A fast food place would have been better, no exaggeration. It’s way over-priced and the small soda is over $3.00 and it’s small. They take cash only so they’re not even paying fees to the bank in order to accept credit cards.

It was practically empty inside at lunch time but the order taker/waitress was not welcoming and seemed to have an attitude. When I put a $1.00 in the tip jar in front of her she didn’t say thank you nor ever said thank you. (No more tip jars for take-out!) The woman cook was right there and she didn’t either.

It’s a shame. I went there over a year ago and had a great hot dog even when the place was packed. I won’t be going there again anytime soon. They need new staff and should compare their prices to the nearby Way Back Burgers which are cheaper even for double patties-ditto for Dairy Queen. I felt like I totally wasted $18.00. The only good thing was sitting at the picnic tables on a...
