Guide Roasting Company — Restaurant in Midlothian

I recently discovered this place through the curiosity of a friend/colleague and since first trying their coffee, I have switched entirely to Guide for my daily coffee beans. As someone who loves dark roasts, their Dominion Dark is the best! I brought some friends of mine who are also avid coffee-enjoyers here and the barista Lisa was super nice and helpful and gave us various samples to try, all of which were amazing. We hadn't come across a place that managed to do matcha lattes as awesome as Lisa prepared for us! As staff will tell you, this location is set up to help you to talk about the various types of beans that they roast and everything is centered around introducing you to the wide range of roasts and origins that they offer. I went here on a whim. I needed good coffee to wake me up before starting my work day. The atmosphere was welcoming the moment I walked inside. The two ladies running the cafe were super sweet, patient, and helpful. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to drink. I shared the flavors I enjoy in my coffee and they were happy to make something on the fly. I will definitely be going back when I need a pick me up.

I found the prices to be reasonable. The drink that was made for me was a caramel and hazelnut latte. The Midlo Espresso is so delicious and definitely had that extra kick to wake me up this morning.

It’s not just a pick up and go cafe, they have seating and breakfast options like burritos and sandwiches. I think I saw pastries too, I was solely focused on the coffee though. You can also purchase their coffee beans in bags or pods.

This place I'm convinced saved my sanity as I spent the week in town at St Francis hospital hanging out with a very ornery and sick 82 year old. I loved it so much I ordered 2 days in a row, and after my family saw my bagel and iced dirty chai.... Suddenly everyone had to have something from here. Each time I arrived to pick up my online order I was treated by a warm and friendly barista. My order was always fresh and tasty. The location is so bizarre but I found out it's because they have a green coffee pod distribution business in the back warehouse. Don't let the odd location deter you! Even though I just picked up my order and dashed there are places to sit on your laptop and chill. It's very quiet and peaceful. Please support these folks. They made a wonderful impression on this...
