UPDATE: The response to this complaint is an embarrassing lie and the person who wrote it should be ashamed of themselves. I had no idea who supposedly mailed my card back, I accused no one in the manner in which this person claims; I simply called very briefly to let whoever was in charge know that either the card had not been mailed back (i.e., it had been taken by an employee or someone with access to wherever such things are kept) or that it had been mailed to a wrong address. I'd already heard from Visa by that point, a replacement was on the way, and I simply wished to let the establishment know what'd happened, as I thought the owners would appreciate the information. What a pathetic story you've concocted, clearly some bizarre attempt to save face.
No one claimed it was your responsibility to return the card to me. You could have easily said no and that would have been understood. I didn't ask any waitress, I simply left a message for the owner. Now your restaurant compounds the shadiness by conjuring things out of thin air that never happened. I was never once "rude and nasty" to your employees, my mention of the post office was meant ironically, and this totally fabricated tale of yours deepens my suspicions. If you'd lie here then you'd lie elsewhere. I'll take full responsibility for ever having stopped at your establishment. Seriously, shame on you.
P.S. I've never heard of a restaurant claiming that to cook a hamburger medium-rare was in any way difficult.
ORIGINAL: Had always wanted to stop here, finally did. Excited because of the specific soups that were listed as specials, along with the Saturday night ribs. Go to make our orders. Oh, the soups are gone. Oh, the ribs are gone too. "I guess I should have told you beforehand," says the nice waitress. Yes. Good idea. Eventually I saw her erasing the board proclaiming the Saturday Night Specials.
Oh well, it's a mistake, and we all make them. I order some type of hamburger steak, medium rare. After a long time our food comes to the table. My companion's hamburger is okay, but my hamburger steak is not medium rare. Instead, it's overcooked. Didn't taste good. So not a good experience. I tell myself I won't come back. However, I'd never write a bad review for all of this. They're a small, rural restaurant struggling with various issues like many other businesses.
Monday morning I reach for my credit card. It's gone. Realize I might have left it at the restaurant, and indeed I have. Remember, we all make mistakes. After a couple of phone calls back and forth over a couple of days it's agreed that it can be mailed to me, as I live some distance away. Days go by. Nothing. I call and check. Hasn't been sent yet, it will be tomorrow. Wait some more. Nothing in the mail. Call back. Yes, someone seems to remember it being sent. I'm checking the mail every day. Nothing.
Then I get the text from Visa telling me they've turned down a charge on my card. Someone's attempted to purchase something in Mexico. I cancel the card. Call the restaurant. Explain what happened. Am bizarrely told that my card should be at my house any day. No, I try to make clear, either an employee took it or it was never mailed. The gal I was talking to tells me she was the one that mailed it. If that's true, either my very simple home address was incorrectly written down, though I'd had a person read it back to me when I first gave it, and magically ended up in the mailbox of a nefarious character, or there's a scam going on at the post box in the extremely small town of Midvale, or some dubious employee is up to shenanigans.
So, as everyone knows, there's the annoyance of canceling the card, waiting for replacements for you and family members, trying to remember all the recurring charges it's linked to, etc...Pain in the neck. Overall it was a poor experience with the Country Coffee Cabin, and I wish I hadn't stopped there. From my first phone call, I sensed some incompetence, but there's definitely the possibility of dishonesty,...
Read moreMy husband & I stopped for lunch here after a 2000 mile motorcycle ride over 10 days. This was our last stop before home. I had my 14 wk old toy Aussie puppy in a carrier I wore. Not one restaurant between Emmett Idaho & Sturgis asked me to leave because of my puppy. I have a ESD card for her but hadn't had to use it. After I sat down a hostess/waitress rudely (I felt) told me I could not have my puppy inside. I asked about her being in training as a therapy dog. She was condescending (I felt) & rolled her eyes, telling me emotional support dogs are NOT therapy dogs. At this point I was road weary, sore & my husband was hungry so we moved to the patio. I was upset that she had been so dismissive regarding a persons need for mental health support of any kind. At the same time I didn't have the energy to question her behavior. I have been in supervised mental health recovery for a number of years. It felt like she was judging me for needing a little emotional support. About 10 minutes later another woman left the restaurant with her dog & felt the same way. She said she felt as if she was being looked down on for needing her ESD. There are so many ways this could have been handled. Just be aware, this is not a very inclusive, welcoming or understanding place to stop for a meal. Our personal waitress was wonderful. We had met this restaurants owner in Council & stopped because of his recommendation. We won't...
Read moreStopped by here for dinner with my wife and we both got the prime rib. My wife could hardly swallow her meat that was overcooked, she ordered medium rare but what she got was cooked beyond welldone. Our prime rib looked and tasted like it had been boiled..? On top of that my wife and I both got dirty silverware that had leftover food stuck on along with greasy water cups. Whoever washes their dishes does not care and it shows. Overall we were shocked at the quality for the price, how could you expect return customers serving such thin overpriced meat. You can tell the prime rib was rushed in the cooking process, whoever is 'cooking' here has lost their passion. Looking around I saw other customers that were rather displeased with their entrees. We ate breakfast here last week and had the same issue with dirty silverware, I was served the smallest omelet that I've ever seen that had barely any filling or cheese with hashbrowns scattered on the side that were severely undercooked ! Good service though, our waitress was a very nice young lady that was working too hard. Too bad the food is at hospital level, it makes sense why they have the place up for sale. My wife and I won't be back, If you want 1 star plates...
