Fire Engine Pizza Co. 2 — Restaurant in Milford

Coming from a firefighter family I was beyond excited for the opening of this restaurant. Upon my arrival I was nothing less than impressed with the consistency in the theme through the decorations to the creative menu items. This place definitely deserves the 5 stars for atmosphere. However when it came to the food it was nowhere near expectations. We started with the loaded tater tots with only bacon on the side, however when we received the dish everything was disassembled. For the price of this item the portion size was really disappointing. It barely was enough for the group of 3. Not to mention there was also a piece of hair on the plate when it was served to us straight from the kitchen. We had ordered 3 entrees; Wagyu Burger, Spaghetti and Clams, and the Burrata Chicken Sandwich. The wagyu burger lacked flavor and barely had any lettuce or tomato on it. The chicken sandwich was tasty and the sweet potato fries on the side were even more delicious. Most importantly the spaghetti and clams was delicious, it had both amazing flavor and a good sized portion of clams. Wife and I had dinner here 04/23/25 with another couple. Was craving a good pizza. Left very disappointed. Wall mounted music speakers are next to all the tables/booths and were at a volume that made it difficult to enjoy a good dinner conversation. They actually increased the music volume as more patrons arrived making our experience even less enjoyable. Clams Casino and an order of Brussels Sprouts for appetizers. They arrived lukewarm and lacked flavor. There were probably 20 or more tiny clams with microscopic bits of meat and it appeared they poured a sauce over them with tiny bits of garlic, peppers and bacon. The plate was mostly empty shells and a liquid sauce. A Loaded Mashed Potato Pizza and a Fresh Mozz Margherita pizza arrived lukewarm and flavors were bland. The Fresh Mozz Margherita pizza seemed like it might have had ricotta cheese on it as well. The menu doesn't list it as an ingredient, so if it wasn't ricotta cheese, I would venture to guess the pizza was undercooked giving the fresh mozzarella cheese the watery, lumpy ricotta texture. I'm being generous with my review because I really wanted to love this place. The atmosphere and it being in an historical building are the best things it has going for it. The menu sounds great, I only wish the food delivered in taste and flavor. Can't say it was the worst pizza I ever had, but it was bland and boring. Even a little salt helped ..but in a great pizza state as CT , they could do much better. I had clams casino pie. I hated the red peppers on it , and I desperately looked for clams and bacon that were sparce. Even adequate spice would have helped for its lack of two important ingredients. I had a goat cheese salad which unfortunately suffered the same fate...bland. my wine also was below par at being at least three days gone in it's coming out of the bottle. ..my two stars rating is generous, and only for atmosphere and a friendly waitress.
