Ate here back last November & it was quite good. They did say at that point that they were planning on closing and converting to a different operation. Well lo and behold they reopened this spring with an updated menu. They still have the prefix menu or a la carte whichever you choose, with a few updates. I had the onion soup which was a $7 up charge. Richard had a side salad and Sharon had the fruit salad which she thought was excellent. I mentioned this back last year that they need to do something about that onion soup to make it worth that extra price. They need to use a veal bone stock. This will give it the extra flavor otherwise it just feels like an onion soup that was whipped up fast rather than slow cooked all day. It was okay but it could have been outstanding. For our main courses Sharon had the Pork Marsala. Fortunately the port was a little bit tough and rather dry cuz it's sliced quite thin to make a marsala out of it. Much better doing it as a schnitzel. Richard had the duck what you thought was okay but being Chinese he and his sister are real picky when it comes to ducks. I had the Filet Mignon dinner. The sides decent. The Filet Mignon was perfectly cooked. Here is where they really fell down though. There is no sauce served with the meat. It could have been served Au poive, a nice mushroom demi-glace. Bernie's sauce. Any one of those. Basically it has just been seared with a little salt and pepper and that was it. Could have been a stellar outstanding meal but it was mediocre because of one simple item missing and that was a good quality sauce. Richard and I are both in the food industry and they're very familiar on how to properly do up a steak of this quality it has to have a good sauce. For dessert we had the limoncello cake which was not made in house. Many restaurants outsource their desserts. Fine so it didn't bother us. We will come back and I'm going to have that onion soup again and probably the Filet Mignon. Hoping that you will take my advice and make those two improvements it could vastly improve the reviews that you...
Read moreI wanted to take my mother to a 4 course dinner. We chose to go here despite it being an hour away due to the high reviews. The place is absolutely beautifully located and adorable. However, the food was mediocre at best. There is a wide variety of entrees to choose from, which was great for our family. The restaurant APPEARED very promising. HOWEVER, we will never return. I am giving them 3 stars, for the décor, the menu, and the cat.
Our reservation was for 6:30, we weren't sat until 6:45 due to no tables available. Annoying, but understandable. This would not have been a downfall if our waitress was accommodating. We ordered drinks and waited quite a bit for them. The bread was great and could have held us over the 45 mins we waited for any food to hit the table, but we were never offered 2nds. The 5 of us got 4 course meals. The appetizers were okay. Nothing exciting. The salads were ugly. Although my raspberry vinaigrette was fantastic, it looked like I had a cup of mixed vegetable thrown on a plate. The appearance wasn't appetizing at all. The Caesar and blue cheese dressings were overly salty. The entrees came in good size portions. The chicken parm and picatta were okay. The filet was complete unseasoned and rather flavorless. The carrots were glazed in a sauce that wouldn't belong on anything and the ratatouille looked like slop and the texture was far overcooked. The ganache was solid ganache. No cake inside or anything. Maybe I was expecting something else, I don't know. But after spending over $200 on dinner you wouldn't think we'd be...
Read moreI grew up going to Mile Away and my family and I always loved it. Granted, it has been several years since I have patronized Mile Away, but I have only fond memories of it. However, this review is not meant for the restaurant, but rather for the wedding venue services it provides. I live out of state but my fiance and I will be having our wedding in NH. When I came across Mile Away as a possible venue, I thought that my search was over. As a disclaimer, I want to mention that my time period of contact with Mile Away was in the middle of COVID-19 shutdowns, so things were a little strange for all of us. My entire experience with the staff at Mile Away was very lack-luster to say the least. I had a very difficult time getting a hold of anyone via email and phone. I had several questions that I needed to have answered before I proceeded with a contract and trying to get answers to them felt like I was pulling teeth. I am so thankful that I never signed with Mile Away. In comparison to my experiences with every other venue staff that I have contacted (at least 10-15 other locations) it is like night and day. I had wonderful experiences with every other venue and always felt like I was valued - and keep in mind that I was contacting all of these other venues during the same COVID-19 shutdown time period. If you are considering Mile Away as your wedding venue, please proceed with caution and recognize your worth as a customer. You should not have to feel like an...
