TERRIBLE EGGS IN THE CITY EXPERIENCE

We arrived with great anticipation, bringing our 5 lb. Chihuahua along with us to dine on the terrace as we were told when booking that dogs are welcome on the terrace, but need to be on leash.

While seated on the terrace, a friendly waitress informed us that the pup would need to be placed on the floor once the food arrived, to which we agreed. She cited “health code requirements.”

However, 45 seconds later, a tall burly 6’4 manager abruptly towered over the table without a greeting, insisting that our dog must stay on the ground saying that these are “my rules, which I have posted everywhere.”  He was aggressive and clearly has zero consideration for treating people with common courtesy.

I told him “He will go on the floor – okay, not an issue.” He was rude and abrupt.

As he puffed away and back into the restaurant ---- he loudly said to the server “let me know if the dog is still not on the floor when I return as I want them out of here!”

Hearing this, I said “this behavior is unacceptable.”

He apparently heard me because one minute later (clearly looking for an altercation) he came back launching into an attack and said to us “what is inappropriate is not following the rules!”

Our dog was on the floor already and simply there was NO NEED for continued aggression.

My wife said, “Excuse me … and started to tell him that the lady server told us he could stay on her lap until the food came, but he is already on the floor….”  And without skipping a beat he said, “YOU ARE EXCUSED!”

Seriously? This is how you speak to a lady and who is a patron!? It became an instant scene.

I told him what is unappropriated is talking to people like this and that there is a word called “hospitality,” which is when he told me like he wanted to challenge me that there is a word called “ENTITLEMENT!” Entitlement? I said… WOW. What an insult. My wife is 5’3” and 105lbs. My daughter is going to be a senior in high school in a few weeks. We wanted to have a nice brunch and relax.

Instead, we were attacked within minutes of us walking inside the restaurant.

The tall unkept guy tried to intimidate us with his size, demeanor and the level of his voice. He was so aggressive, I seriously thought he was going to “chest bump” me.

I told my family “Let’s leave” as he continued to try to keep the encounter going.

As we were walking out– I said, “we are leaving” and he said sarcastically “great decision – LEAVE!”

We should have filmed this. It was so unbelievably disrespectful.

A dining establishment may serve the best food, but if the staff is rude, disrespectful, and cruel, it tarnishes the entire experience.

The guy’s behavior was appalling.  He clearly has an anger issue and should not be in a service position. If I had to guess, he has LDS (syndrome), which has NOTHING to do with the Latter-Day Saints abbreviation.

He was a bully and clearly this was not his first rodeo with patrons. He was disgusting.

Horrible experience.

I would strongly recommend avoiding EGGS IN THE CITY, especially if you’re a dog-owner and go anywhere else as no one needs to be hassled by a creepy guy who clearly wanted a fight.

Someone should alert the owner, Heather Santi who I am pretty sure would be embarrassed...

Fun quirky spot for breakfast. We went after seeing a social media post about cinnamon roll pancakes.

The parking situation was a zoo. We thankfully found a spot but were told it was an hour wait on a Sunday morning. That wasn’t a huge surprise so we were added to the waitlist and went for a quick hike. We got a text our table was ready…but it wasn’t. They ended up seating us at the counter even though we specially requested a table. Small deal, but still annoying.

We then had interactions with two servers. One introduced himself, asked for drink orders, and said the other server may stop by. Then the other did the exact same thing. It was confusing and unclear who we were supposed to order through. After ordering, we never saw our servers again. The food was served by someone else and no one ever checked on our food. The bill was brought by the hostess, who had a whole stack of them and was wandering the restaurant trying to track people down. I was severely unimpressed by how disorganized the service was. This was not a function of understaffing either, as again we had two servers for our section.

That all being said, the rest of the experience was great. Everyone was very nice. The restaurant itself was cute and a fun space. The menu is big and it took us a while to nail down what we wanted. We settled on a medium size cinnamon roll pancake and a crab cake Benedict.

Our food was up fairly quickly given the rush, no disorganization in the kitchen thankfully! The portions were big! We shared both items and ended up with half the pancake as leftovers. The crab cakes were delicious. Small thing but I wish the asparagus served on the Benedict had been cut up more, as it was hard to cut good bites.

The crab cake Benedict was market price and was more expensive than I expected, but I won’t fault anyone for that and it was delicious. The pancake was very fairly priced.

I’m not in a rush to return but would if the service...

This could have been a five-star or four-star experience. I will go back to try their breakfast food. We came about 30 minutes before they closed. The host and the waiter all repeated over and over that we didn't need to hurry. Unfortunately the cook didn't get the message and rushed our order obviously. Nice to get it quickly but I would have rather waited another 5 minutes and had it made with a little more care. I ordered a club and the quality of the ingredients was great. However the sandwich was sloppy and obviously made with haste. Literally after they brought our food the kitchen staff brought out their food and ate at the table behind us. I don't care if the kitchen staff eats in the restaurant go them but it was obvious how quickly they cooked our food And it was a very sloppy sandwich. How they prepared the sandwich definitely made it less appealing. Everything was sliced by them You could tell. Reason being is because everything was super thick. Tomatoes ham turkey cheese all of it was 1/3" thick or bigger. The bread wasn't toasted It was barely buttered and I had no golden brown color, was heated up long enough just to dry it out a little bit. Like I said this could have been a four or a five star visit but the food was just prepared in a way that wasn't satisfying and I felt was very sloppy and rushed. There are not very many things to critique on a club sandwich and if you can't toast the bread and cut the toppings to center proportions then I don't know what business you have making sandwiches. Chicken and waffles smell delicious but I did not taste it, My lunch partner ordered that and it looked delicious. My suggestion is the restaurant absolutely needs their cooks to have some more quality control if they want me to visit again. There is major potential and everything is quality tasting. But if it's rushed that's not what I want...

Eggs In The City, a charming diner that lives up to its name, provided me with an unforgettable dining experience. Opting for their renowned "Give Up" meal, which consisted of eggs, sausage, pancakes, potatoes, and gravy over the potatoes, I was treated to a hearty and indulgent breakfast feast. The "Give Up" meal at Eggs In The City was a true breakfast lover's dream come true. The perfectly cooked eggs, whether scrambled, fried, or poached, were a delightful centerpiece. The sausage was juicy and flavorful, adding a savory punch to the plate. The pancakes were fluffy and accompanied by a choice of delightful toppings, such as maple syrup or fruit compote. The potatoes, crispy and golden, were taken to the next level with the addition of rich and savory gravy. The portion sizes were generous, ensuring that I left the diner fully satisfied. Each element of the meal was expertly prepared, highlighting the kitchen's attention to detail and commitment to quality. The service at Eggs In The City was warm and friendly, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. The staff was attentive and accommodating, ensuring that every need was met with a smile. The diner itself had a cozy and nostalgic atmosphere, reminiscent of classic American diners. The walls were adorned with vintage décor, creating a welcoming ambiance that added to the charm of the place. For breakfast lovers seeking a hearty and delicious meal, Eggs In The City is a must-visit. Their "Give Up" meal, with its delightful combination of eggs, sausage, pancakes, potatoes, and gravy, offers a satisfying breakfast that will leave you with a smile on your face and a contented appetite.
