⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 – A Hidden Gem for True Barbecue Lovers! We recently visited Flavor of Texas in Milledgeville, and from the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special. The service was outstanding — warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly, making the whole experience feel like a visit to a good friend’s home. Now onto the food: perfection. I had the brisket with hot barbecue sauce, and it was nothing short of phenomenal — tender, smoky, and the sauce brought just the right amount of heat without overwhelming the meat’s natural flavor. It’s easily some of the best brisket I’ve had anywhere. The Brunswick stew was a pleasant surprise. I’d never had it served hot like that before, and it was absolutely delicious. Every spoonful had depth and comfort. The baked beans came packed with a smoky, meaty flavor that elevated them from a side to a star. The potato salad also impressed — creamy, tangy, and perfectly seasoned. My wife ordered the pork sandwich with fries, and both were excellent. The sandwich was flavorful and juicy, and the fries were crispy and well-seasoned — the kind you just keep reaching for. The atmosphere matched the food: warm, inviting, and full of Southern charm. You can tell this place is built on passion for good food and good people. We will absolutely be back, and we’re already recommending Flavor of Texas to friends and family. If you’re in the area and craving amazing barbecue, do yourself a favor and stop by. You...
Read moreI tried the Big Texas 5 Meat platter to get a bit of everything. I also tried the coleslaw and baked beans. Starting with the sides, the coleslaw is rough cut type, it was cool and crunchy but bland. The beans were nice with added peppers and beef. The Big Texas platter came with a generous helping of Puller Pork, Chopped Brisket, Sliced Sausage, 1 piece of white and dark meat chicken, and 4 ribs. It all came with plenty of white bread and rolls. This will easily feed 2 people and is a great value. The Pulled Pork was great, it was moist and had a deep smoke flavor. The Brisket was good and would be interested if they offered it sliced. It came well sauced in your choice of original or spicy sauce. The sliced Sausage is a Kielbasa style sausage, it had a great smoky flavor. I would be great if they started making their sausage in house when they get more established. This is usually a staple in Texas BBQ. The Chicken was well seasoned on the outside, the white meat was dry, but the thigh was juicy and delicious. I usually don't get smoked chicken so I'm glad it was included because the dark meat was delicious, and I will get it again. The star of the show were the ribs, they had a great flavor and a small bite to them, shortcuts were not made in making these.
If you're on the fence, jump off and come try this place. You won't be disappointed. They are smoking some of the best BBQ available in...
Read moreWhenever I drive from Hilton Head to Atlanta, I always avoid the Interstate, preferring instead to take country roads. When it was time for lunch today I was nearing Milledgeville and a few BBQ restaurants showed up in my search. I randomly selected Flavor of Texas and am so glad I did. It's a tiny, family run business, with Charles and his wife looking after the details and making sure everyone has a great experience. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, and okra. The pork was perfectly seasoned and moist, served with two slices of fresh, untoasted bread. I topped it with some of the coleslaw and a good bit of the homemade spicy bbq sauce to make the perfect, classic sandwich. So good, as was the slaw, okra, and conversation with Charles, who kept me company and told me his story. He also asked for my opinion on the newest menu item, and brought me a sample of the Brunswick stew, which was solid. If you live in Milledgeville, you are lucky to have Flavor of Texas as a regular option. If you are passing through, make a point to stop by. You...
