Update January 2024: JoJo's has unfortunately become increasingly unreliable in a few ways, and as a result I've found a new pizza shop:
They are perpetually going back and forth on whether they'll take credit cards or not, which I find very irritating. Last time they could but they preferred not to, do asked me to wait across the street to the bank to get cash to pay for my pizza.
They changed their prices and even changed their phone number arbitrarily without publishing an update menu anywhere. The prices went up. Okay time I went I got charged $20 for a large ham and pineapple pizza. When I asked why it was so much (their large cheese was advertised as $12) they responded that the pineapple that they use costs $6 for a can. What? I can literally buy a can of pineapple chunks as the grocery store down the road for 79 cents.
Don't even try to buy a side order. Order of onion rings was absurdly small for the price, I get twice as much pretty much anywhere else. I must get the impression the owners are. Nickel and diming me at every step and I don't appreciate it.
It's not a change necessarily (the owner always had a cross in the front window) but last time I ate in the owner was blasting contemporary Christian worship music which... Why is that playing in a pizza shop at lunchtime? Did I come to eat pizza in a church? It was just odd. And also too loud, intrusive.
But the nail in the coffin is that I had a couple of pizzas that were just... off. It tasted like they had used 3 day old pizza dough. Very strong funky sweet yeast/fermented scent to the crust. I do like a nice yeasty bread but this was beyond normal bread taste. And when I say sweet smell, sweet like when meat starts to go bad. Sweet because it has started going bad.
I wanted to like the place but unfortunately I can't recommend it anymore. Haven't been back in at least 6 months, my new shop is reliably good, and less expensive, less of a hassle.
Original review in 2019:
I just moved to the area, and am so glad jojo's is here! Their pizza is seriously some of the best I've ever had. Sauce is just right, the crust is nice and thin and crispy on the edges, just the right amount of cheese and never greasy. Friendly service too. I'd also recommend their stromboli and their sandwiches on rolls made right there at...
Read moreExcellent food and staff!!! This review is long overdue... I was driving from northern PA back to my home in Baltimore after a long weekend field training exercise with the Army Reserve. I was still in uniform, and do everything I can not to go out in public places in uniform, but I was tired and hungry and needed to take a couple minute break from behind the wheel. It was near closing time, but the owners and staff accommodated me and treated me like one of their family. The dining area is large, very clean and well decorated. I took a seat near the television to watch whichever sporting event was on at the time. The owners sat down to eat at the table next to me and chatted, which was nice after four hours of driving alone. The waitress ended up paying for my meal before she left for the night. This was a great dining experience and I recommend it to everyone traveling through the area! I will definitely stop here every time. I can't...
Read moreAuthentic, good food, always freshly cooked. The owner even opened the restaurant for us when we didn't know the hours and jumped right into the kitchen and made us our order. A local gem in an area losing too much to fast food and commercialism. Remember, why get bad food "fast"(last time I went to McDonald's I waited 20 minutes for cold soggy food), when you can come to a wonderful place like this and enjoy the atmosphere, talk to the personable staff, and get good fresh food just as fast. I will be coming back to try more of their menu, and they were quick to accommodate special requests :) Support local, especially when it tastes this good.
They even gave us a free taste test of some of their menu items while we waited!! Which was amazing as well(grilled chicken with I believe a...
