We decided to come back to Bold Rock as they had some new spring flavors we wanted to try. It is definitely a lot crazier and more hectic when the weather is nice compared to the late fall. That is definitely a great thing for Bold Rock, but I prefer a more relaxed setting that we had previously or have had at other Cideries/Wineries in NC.
We got two cider flights which consisted of: Apple - like the last time, this was our favorite of the day. A good apple cider. Pineapple - It's okay, like I stated before, we have had better pineapple ciders. Blackberry - another okay cider, but we have had better blackberry ciders. Pear - did not like at all. Berry Peach - I was most excited for this one, but it is also just okay. Really only got blueberry, hard to tell if there was any peach flavor at all. Imperial - this one was good, but of the apple flavors, preferred just the apple cider better. Imperial Berry - This one was okay too, and we both liked it better than the blackberry. Strawberry Lime - another one I was excited for, but there was hardly any flavor.
For the most part, their flavors are not very strong. While we thought they were fine while we were there to enjoy the cider flights, none of them really stood out to us to make us want to buy some to take home. Unfortunately, we just like ciders from some other wineries...

Bold Rock, is located on School House Rd in Mills River, NC (just outside of Ashville, NC off of I-26) They are a Premium Cider & Beer Brewery up start, only being in full operations for about 2 yrs now.
All of the staff is AWESOME, Super friendly and very knowledgeable. I've visited many of these type places and all I can say is, this place has them all beat.
They have a Freshly made local BBQ trailer on site where you can enjoy MANY of the local flavors, (BBQ, Handburgers, Dogs & more) Then, once your belly is full, come on inside and you can take a tour or enjoy a sample of everything they make. From light and airy fruity ciders to a Very Bold and hoppy Beer and everything in between.
Just make sure you don't forget not to leave empty handed. You can pick up shirts, hats, beer glasses etc, as well as your favorite flavor by either the 6 pack or the Case. Not sure which flavor you like best? No problem, they have sample cases that include virtually every flavor that you can buy as well.
They're open from 11am - 10PM M-F & 11am - 8am Sa & Su.
I just found my new favorite...
Read moreWe held our wedding welcome party at Bold Rock on their covered porch area a few weeks ago and it couldn’t have been more perfect. We wholeheartedly recommend them for your event— Heagan (the taproom manager) was so great to work with & really went above and beyond to make our event go smoothly. We were allowed to decorate in advance of the party and the staff were so helpful all evening. The Bold Rock chef created a special BBQ menu we had requested, complete with dietary restrictions (even vegan and gluten free options), and wow, this was some incredible food! People were raving about it (especially that potato salad-yum!) We also lucked out to have a live band playing the night of our party which was so wonderful as well- the sound was a perfect volume from where our event was to the stage. We definitely see ourselves coming back in the future to visit this gem of a place & we are so grateful to have found them for our welcome party!
We are also so heartbroken to see the devastation that Hurricane Helene caused to this area shortly after our wedding - we are thinking of all who are in Asheville and surrounding areas and hoping for them to recover quickly
