Houston's on Main — Restaurant in Milo

07/16/21 Gave Houstons another try. Unfortunately my experience didn't improve. My drink, the name was something like gravel travel, was awesome. But, once again, no plates were brought out for our onion rings and fried pickle chips, and the cheese on my pizza was just barely melted and wasn't super hot. They were busy, but that's no excuse for undercooked food. The onion rings were a little better than last time. A little. Pickle chips - I don't care for them to begin with so I'm not reviewing them.

6 months ago I gave Houston's a 5 star review. Today only 3. Not sure if the waitress was new, but when a table of 5 orders a full order of rings, they DEFINITELY need plates. And speaking of the rings, they must have a new recipe because they were cornmeal gritty and overcooked. The sausage brick oven pizza was just ok. Maybe I'm weird but I like the mozzarella a little more than just melted. The strawberry mule drink was tasty, I was kind of glad that they couldn't fill my first two drink requests!

This place is fantastic! If you're looking for that small town feel AND flavor, don't pass this one by! You can be seated in the bar area or the family can dine in a separate dining section. Didn't look like much on the outside or inside, but the food was great. Average salad and baked potato, but the steak was tender, juicy, flavorful and cooked medium as I ordered it. The place was really busy yet our very young waitress was attentive without being nosy and I gave her a 20% tip which I usually reserve for more upscale eateries' service. There were also green beans which tasted like fresh, not canned or frozen. They may have been overcooked for some, but I like mine that way. Houston's also has wood fired pizza, so tried the cheese pizza appetizer. It was sssssooooo good. The crust tasted delicious! The beer I ordered was not available, so drank a less tasty one because the bartender had already opened it, but will ask to see the bottle next time before it's opened and get what I want. I like beer so drank it anyways. Will go back...

We showed up with a big group today. They thought we might be a different group. There were 2 other big groups getting ready to arrive. They moved tables and got us seated quick. Our waitress was boss. She was on it, got drinks ordered and made sure nobody was left out. Then she took all of our orders. We had 7 different checks, but she crushed it, getting everything we ordered with no issues. I could hear the printer, printing our tickets over and over. The food came out hot. We loved our burgers. I assume the meat was fresh from the meat locker across the street, but I didn't ask. Our onion rings, sweet corn nuggets, fries and homemade potato chips were amazing too! She brought the checks out easy and quick!

Hopefully we will have a chance to make it back...
