Sometimes when I'm on my way home from downtown, my instincts take over and my car automatically guides ourselves to Valley Inn in Pigsville. Don't ask me where it is. I cannot find Valley Inn in the daytime. It's somewhere under Wisconsin Avenue. You can't get there using any GPS or Google Maps. You only can get there on instinct and intuition. And once you do find it, you're in for a great evening with most down-to-earth and friendly locals Milwaukee has to offer. This is just a great, old school hometown bar somewhere north of Miller Park, but south of Harley-Davidson's Highland Avenue plant, a little west of the Domes, and east of Wauwatosa.

Read moreGreat Milwaukee grill pub. A special hidden gem in a hidden neighborhood between Miller Brewery and AmFam Field. Full of city workers, 1st responders, white collar, and blue collar workers. Great owners and staff. Absolutely great bar food. I've had pizza, multiple burgers, chicken sandwiches, and the biggest damn roast beef sandwich I've ever seen. Everything was awesome. The bar regularly gives back to the community to help out after tragic events. Support the Valley Inn because they are good people who run a good place. The pizzas are also amazing.

Read moreI'm so glad I finally checked out Valley Inn! I've universally heard good things about it and I can say everyone is right. I had lunch there today with some work colleagues. My NID Chicken Sandwich was delicious - the pretzel roll was toasted just right and the toppings were generous without being overwhelming. I relived a bit of my childhood with tater tots for my side - they were perfectly crispy. It wasn't too busy when we were there so we stayed and visited for a while.
