I worked at Izzo's during the summer of 2017 and absolutely loved my job there. Prior to this summer, Izzo's had a terrible reputation around town. So when a group of coworkers and I left our previous (better paying) job to try and turn things around we knew we were taking a leap and we worked hard all summer to try and improve the overall quality of the restaurant. We loved coming to work, getting to know the customers, and bragging to folks around Detroit Lakes about why they should give Izzo's another chance. We were given so many compliments from locals who had visited Izzo's in years prior, everyone said we were doing much better. We ended the season with plenty of "see you laters," planning to see our regular customers again next summer. But as the season ended we quickly realized why this restaurant has such a bad track record. Izzo's is owned by Breezy Point. As the season came to and end we learned that they were installing higher tech video cameras to not only watch our EVERY move, but to also be able to listen in to conversations we were having with the customers. They accused staff members of stealing from the company, and sat and watched through an entire day of work on the cameras. After finding no proof of us stealing, they decided to pick apart the fact that we took breaks when the restaurant was empty and we had been working an open to close shift. The upper management never bothered to thank us for the amazing compliments the residents of the on-site RV park shared before packing up for the winter. Instead they accused staff members of getting too close to the RV residents. (It's the restaurant business. You're supposed to get to know your regulars?) The icing on the cake was learning after working there all summer and leaving our previous jobs, that the summer bonuses they had promised us before we started were not being given to us. I, personally, worked right up until my wedding and came back to work right afterwards to ensure that I had enough hours for my bonus at the end of the year. For so many of us that invested a good amount of our summer into improving the reputation of this restaurant, it was a major major slap in the face.
I post this review mainly to let others know that this restaurant is always looking for help. BUT DO NOT APPLY. This is all my honest experience. It breaks my heart that I will not be going back, as I came to know and love so many of the residents in the park. But I can't work for a company that will use my dedication to my job and my customers against me.
Thanks for a fantastic summer, customers of 2017. We had such a great time serving and getting to know you. Sorry we...
Read moreIzzo's is and up and down place. I have the impression that they don't like to pay their cooks because the way their food is prepared is varied from year to year. and it is also apparent that they will hire new cooks with very little experience. a year ago dining here i was impressed. this year the cook could not even read the menu they had. maybe with a little more experience. the cook will improve. but i wouldn't count on consistency here. great place and location. but i am kind of getting the impression that they put more effort into their golf course and selling mini houses. lol. good luck all when dining here. Yes. they have a lot where they sell...

I thought my Chicago Hot Dog was good but the fries didn't have flavor to them and tasted pretty blend. My daughter got the wings and said everything was good except the sauce (sweet and chili) which tasted really bad. We ordered these two meals along with me having a large Dr. Pepper and my daughter had a kids size Dr. Pepper. Our total came to $31.03. The service was the worse part of everything. For price of food and quality of service I don't see me...
