Hash House — Restaurant in Minnetrista

This was the 2nd time we ordered from hash house. The first time we ordered, the online ordering took the order and charged us. When we went to pick up our order, the restaurant was closed. The feedback from the restaurant was they apologized and would send a coupon to our home as a way to show appreciation for the business. Nothing ever came. Today, I ordered takeout from Hash House to try again. We ordered the Turkey Commercial and the chicken fried steak. Pulling up to the building was fine, except the parking lot is not paved so all the mud in the lot was sort of a pain- but could be forgotten if the food was awesome… I was really excited about trying the chicken fried steak! Opening the box, I found there was two large scoops of lumpy “mashed” potatoes on top of the meat with some sort of jalapeño gravy on top. Not the sausage rosemary gravy that was listed. The breading on the meat was scorched and the steak was very tough to cut. It didn’t strike me as as a breakfast dish nor a dish I would recommend. As for the turkey commercial, again with the same “mashed” potatoes that were not good and then with the smoked turkey on toast. It was a miss for my husband too. We stopped by the Hash House in Minnetrista for brunch and were a bit underwhelmed.

We ordered a few things to gauge the menu.

The Beignets were a little bitter and greasy and also had almost no powdered sugar on them which is not what we expect when we order beignets. They also were all different sizes so some were cooked more than others.

The cinnamon roll had nice flavor but was a little dry. It was also more of a muffin style cinnamon roll which was an interesting take!

I ordered the smokehouse hash which had brisket in it and the meat was dry and a little tough. The portion of the hash was a decent size but it was pretty bland and needed to add salt and pepper. The egg’s however were cooked exactly to order which was nice.

We tried an a la carte pancake that we both enjoyed.

Other than the food, the inside was a little strange with multiple kinds of music playing at the same time. Our server however was very nice and attentive made sure we had everything we needed.

Overall, our experience here was that the food was a little bland and overpriced for what we got. But the service...

We were so excited to have a great breakfast place in town. Buddy's is so good and we assumed the same would be true for HH.

Instead of detailing ever thing that was wrong (because it was quite literally every aspect of the meal and service) i will just say we all ended up pushing our plates away and couldnt really eat anything.

We want to support a local place with such potential. I am hoping they can figure out a way to fix it all, and I will for sure give them another chance at some point if they can.

Not a picky eater or restaurant guest. First time in my life I've asked to talk to mgr. And not really to complain but to let them know what's up so they can address. Didn't seem like it was a surprise to them, and looking around the room at other's body language and plates that were still full of food - this wasn't just us.

Would love to be proven wrong some day and make this a regular breakfast spot. Right now, top to bottom, it was so...
