Dock Rotz Tavern: Where Mediocrity Finds a Home!
If you're looking for an experience that won't leave you shouting "Eureka!" or crying into your napkin, Dock Rotz Tavern in Minooka, IL, might just be your kind of place. It's like that dependable friend who's always up for a hangout, even if they're not exactly the life of the party.
The food at Dock Rotz Tavern won't make your taste buds do the tango, but hey, it won't summon the food critics either. It's like a culinary tightrope walk - not the best, not the worst, but at least you're not falling face-first into a plate of despair.
Now, if you're dreaming of having your mind blown by gastronomic delights, Dock Rotz might not be your first spaceship to Flavor Town. But if you're content with something that won't have you composing ballads of culinary ecstasy, then you might just find yourself back here, sporadically.
The staff are friendly, like the type of folks you'd share a good-natured eye-roll with when your food takes a leisurely stroll from the kitchen. The restaurant is clean, which is more than you can say about some places that feel like they've hosted a food fight recently.
But ah, the service - they take "slow and steady wins the race" quite seriously here. If you've got time to kill, you're in for a patience-building exercise. Maybe they're secretly trying to train customers for a world where everything moves at a glacial pace.
The food is the ultimate embodiment of "meh." It's not bad, but it won't inspire you to write sonnets or wax poetic about its subtleties. It's like the background music of restaurants - present, but not the main attraction.
So, to Dock Rotz Tavern, we salute you for being the middle ground, the Switzerland of dining experiences. You won't make us abandon our culinary allegiances, but you won't have us running for the hills either. Here's to being...
Read moreTucked into the corner of yet another mini mall, this is a very nice restaurant and bar. Still contend that Maps and other sites need to figure out the half-star rating as this place is a 3.5 for us. Place offers easy seating in the bar area and restaurant area, with plenty of additional seating in their outdoor area, which makes this a comfortable place with several good options available.
We sat at a bar table which had the added height by choice. Server seemed new and a little nervous but that really wasn't an issue. Service and staff overall was very friendly and helpful, hostesses could use a little more work. Food was delivered in pretty quick fashion after ordering (we were in no rush), servings were plentiful and taste was very good. Onion rings were top notch with my sandwich. The others in our party had nothing but high praise for their meals also. Another place that doesn't have ginger ale on hand for Jameson & ginger ale (which is my favorite and a go-to choice) so that's a knock against them.
Other complaints: 1) the a/c supply ducts sit right over each table in the bar area. Like it cool but air flow becomes annoying and not very good for when hot food is served. May we suggest some diverters to push the air towards the wall to achieve the desired air flow effect and minimize the amount of blasting air on customers. 2) Bathrooms are single serve variety- seemed to always be a wait and we were there at 6pm. Can't imagine the line when the place is really busy.
Those 2 things, plus a lack of ginger ale (and, no, I don't want the 'mixed' fake version of your pseudo ginger ale), knock them from a higher level of...
Read moreDock Rotz Tavern is a nice looking facility. The food was delicious and the staff was polite and friendly. The reasons why they are getting a 2 star review is because the waitress started off with drinks and appetizers. Came out in a timely fashion. For 4 adults and 1 4 year old, we didn’t order a lot of food. When we got our appetizers we ordered our entrees. About 20 minutes later, we still haven’t got our food. 3 burgers, a kids meal and 1 chicken tender meal, it took over an hour to bring us food. We had other bigger parties come in, sit down and order appetizers, drinks and entrees. And receive all of that around us. While we waited after 30 minutes we asked a staff member to check on our food. About 20 more minutes later, I asked the hostess to check on our food. Around another 10 minutes we asked another waitress to find our food because the 4 year old was starting to get crabby while waiting for food. Then our food came out. During this hour of waiting and asking, we never got checked on by our waitress nor did we receive any other drinks we ordered when we ordered our food as well. Then we got checked on 2 times after receiving our food, the first time they checked on us, we asked for boxes the second time the checked on us, they gave us our boxes. we asked for the check and waited another 20 minutes to have someone grab our checks. It wasn’t busy until after we ordered our food. We then left pretty quickly. I have heard good reviews about this place, I just hope IF we revisit it, the time to deliver the...
